Photographie privée de Marilyn Monroe avec Barbara Leibolt et son jeune fils John Gregory Leibolt (né début 1953), vers 1954. Leibolt était une voisine d'un coach vocal de Marilyn, probablement Harold Newman (dit "Hal") Schaefer qui habitait à l'appartement 203 au 1327 North Vista Street à Los Angeles, qui pourrait être le lieu d'où à été prise la photographie.
Quand Marilyn venait voir Schaefer (ils ont été amants), elle aimait garder le petit John et cuisinait même en faisant des biscuits.

When Marilyn came to see Schaefer (they were lovers), she loved keep the little John and even cooked, making cookies.

Il s'agit d'une photographie initialement postée sur la plateforme imgur (le 10 mai 2017), dont la personne à l'origine de sa publication a posté un commentaire il y a un mois (donc début juin 2024) sur le réseau reddit, apportant ce commentaire: "c'est une photo privée de ma mère et de mon beau-frère. Ils vivaient, à cette époque, dans un appartement à côté de son coach vocal et sont devenus amis. Elle venait même faire des biscuits et parfois faire du babysitting. Elle adorait les enfants et son incapacité les avoir, je pense, a joué un grand rôle dans sa mort."
Ce commentaire et lien vers la publication de l'image de son auteur a fait l'effet d'une boule de neige "médiatique" sur les réseaux sociaux consacrés à Marilyn Monroe. Beaucoup d'admirateurs de Marilyn, stupéfaits de découvrir une photographie rare et totalement inconnue, ont rapidement mis en avant qu'il s'agissait d'un "fake", c'est à dire d'une fausse photo soit retouchée (photoshop), soit une création de l'intelligence artificielle (en pleine expansion ces derniers temps). Des fans de Marilyn ont alors menés d'intenses investigations, pour lesquelles je tiens ainsi à travers cette annotation, souligner l'investissement et le résultat de leurs recherches: Scott Fortner via sa page instagram Marilyn Monroe Collection; et April VeVea à travers sa page instagram Classic Hollywood Women et l'article très fouillé de son site Classic Blondes  .

This is a photograph initially posted on the imgur platform (on May 10, 2017), on which the person behind its publication posted a comment a month ago (i.e. early June 2024) on the Reddit network , providing this comment: "it is a private photo of my Mother and brother in law. They lived, at that time, in an apartment next to her voice coach and became friends. She even came over to bake cookies and sometimes babysit. She loved kids and her inability to have them, I think, played a big part in her death."
This comment and link to the publication of the image by its author had the effect of a “media” snowball on social networks dedicated to Marilyn Monroe. Many of Marilyn's admirers, stunned to discover a rare and totally unknown photograph, quickly pointed out that it was a "fake", that is to say a false photo or retouched (photoshop) , or a creation of artificial intelligence (in full expansion recently). Marilyn fans then carried out intense investigations, for which I would like through this annotation to highlight the investment and the results of their research: Scott Fortner via his Marilyn Monroe Collection Instagram page; and April VeVea through her Classic Hollywood Women Instagram page and the very researched article on her Classic Blondes website.
