/ Avertissement / Mark Bellinghaus est un personnage très controversé au sein de la communauté des fans de Marilyn, qui cherche aussi à faire parler de lui. Ancien acteur allemand, aujourd'hui activiste et blogger, il s'est attaqué à plusieurs reprises envers des fans innocents de Marilyn, qui ont ainsi mené une pétition et engagé des poursuites (voir le site victims of MB). Ne connaissant pas la totalité des faits, je ne cherche pas à prendre parti; d'un côté je considère les actions de Bellinghaus envers les dénonciations de fraudes autour de Marilyn étant parfaitement louables; mais de l'autre côté, la férocité de son action dépasse parfois les limites, et je trouve dommage qu'il s'attaque injustement à de pauvres fans qui veulent simplement commémorer la mémoire de Marilyn !

Mark Bellinghaus est un fan et collectionneur invétéré de Marilyn Monroe. Il est aussi très engagé dans la lutte des fraudes concernant la star et dénonce les sois disants objets et autres vêtements personnels de Marilyn revendus à des prix fous, ainsi que les fausses expositions etc... Il veut démontrer que désormais le seul nom de "Marilyn Monroe" est une véritable entreprise qui rapporte des millions à des personnes malveillantes voulant abuser des fans.

A pearl gray silk dress with the top portion being a fitted halter top and the skirt portion being three layers of gathered silk chiffon; interior label reads: “designed by Jax;” dress appears well worn, as discoloration appears under arms and other staining is evident on interior lining. Marilyn owned a total of four dresses in this style designed by Jax, one of her favorite designers. Marilyn used this personally owned dress as a prototype for the dress made for her film “Let’s Make Love.” Evidently a favorite dress of the star’s, she also wore it in numerous press photographs as well as off-set during the production of her last film, “The Misfits.” Interestingly, a triangle-shaped stain appears on the right-breast area and this same exact stain is evident in a photograph showing MM sitting next to Yves Montand. A two page handwritten letter written to Marilyn by a United States soldier in Korea in 1954, dated June 22, 1954; the year she and Joe DiMaggio were honeymooning in Japan when she sojourned to Korea to entertain U.S. troops. She had a hectic itinerary, performing ten shows in only four days with an audience count of over 100,000 soldiers. In the letter, the soldier mentions some photographs of Marilyn he enclosed, though they’re now not present; text reads in part: “…I want to thank you for coming over here last Feb. and putting on a show for us. It means a lot to all of us for you to come over here from the States and put on a show.” Also present is the original transmittal envelope. 5 X 8 inches

I know you are lonely –/do try and come visit us and it may/ help you over the cloud. You are very/ busy and all, but if you could fly/down here for a few days I’m sure/you would feel better. / We three are just the same as when/you saw us last, except a little fatter/and older, ha ha. Norman Rosten pens a brief handwritten note together with a copy of a related script to Marilyn expressing her missed presence at his anniversary party (c.1958). Reading in full: “Marilyn-/ Here’s a copy of a/ little sketch Hedda & I did/ for our anniversary party. / Wish you had been/here to watch us read it. / We were corny, but everyone else was drunk – so it/ came off very well. We’re expecting you/ next anniversary – no excuses! / Norman.” Also present is a six page typed carbon-copy script, dated July 12, 1958, being a wedding anniversary party speech for Norman and Hedda Rosten entitled “The Summer of the 18th Doll.” The material is a satirical look at the couple’s eighteen year-long marriage; the Rostens being close friends of MM’s throughout her adult life, so much so that they were included in her last will and testament. 8 ½ X 11 inches

Two typed letters to Marilyn from Arthur Miller’s father, Isidore, dated December 22, 1961 and February 8, 1962, both from the Sea Isle resort in Miami Beach, Florida. The first letter mentions concerns for Marilyn’s well being and reads in part: “My dear Marilyn, my main concern is how you are feeling and I look forward to hearing from you soon.” The other expresses his loneliness at the resort. A one page typed letter composed just six days after Marilyn’s 36th and final birthday from the management of her New York apartment regarding an occupancy issue while she was away, dated June 7, 1962. In part: “It has come to our attention that while you were away, you permitted others to live at your apartment, in violation of the terms of your lease. At this time, we do not wish to cause you any embarrassment by serving these people as well as yourself a notice to vacate, and by not doing so, we do not waive your rights under the lease, but merely wish to save you from an unpleasant situation…. We are calling this to your attention so that in the future you will not again permit others to use your apartment, thereby creating a situation which will be embarrassing to you;” the guests being Marilyn’s friends, Mr. And Mrs. Vanderbilt Field whom she met while in Mexico. A smaller typed note, stapled to the left-side of this letter and likely written by May Reis, her trusted secretary, reads in part: “This is a nasty letter and I think deserves/a nasty reply…in view of the tone of the letter perhaps M’s lawyer should answer and I hope tell the management where to get off.” Sadly, MM would die just two months later, making the “illegal” occupation of her apartment a moot point. 8 ½ X 11 inches

When MM was just twenty-one, Carroll agreed that “For and in consideration of the sum of One-Hundred ($100.00) to be paid you weekly, you hereby agree that you shall engage your professional services as an actress only through me.” Both parties signed in black fountain pen ink; MM’s signature being very deliberate and neat-looking as she had just recently changed her name from Norma Jeane Baker to Marilyn Monroe. On December 7, 1947, just three days after Marilyn signed this agreement, “Dangerous Years” was released, giving MM her first speaking part as Evie the spirited waitress. Marilyn’s personal working script from the film eventually titled “The Prince and the Showgirl,” which co-starred Laurence Olivier and which her company, Marilyn Monroe Productions, Inc, produced in 1956. The red paper cover displaying label reading “Marilyn Monroe/Laurence Olivier/The Sleeping Price/Personal Copy of Miss Monroe;” thirty-one of the 68 pages are annotated in pen and/or pencil by the star; most of which document minor script changes, though a few revealing, cryptic and non sequitur notations also appear such as: “What am I doing here with this strange man/I can’t believe my eyes, ears/watch him/‘oh no’/this idiot/Chanel #5/I just think it’s a joke/don’t take anyone else’s tone/affective memory/heart breaking” among countless other ‘notes to self’ she penned. This was a famously difficult production for Marilyn with heavy tension between her and Olivier during the entire shooting schedule, ultimately resulting in a box office bomb. Lot n°80: costume de Don't Bother to Knock
Undoubtedly the Holy Grail of any serious costume collection, presented here is a simple yet elegant green and black day dress worn by none other than Marilyn Monroe in her starring role as Nell Forbes in the 1952 drama Don't Bother to Knock. An important milestone in Monroe's career, Don't Bother to Knock was Monroe's first starring role in which she was able to show her versatility as a dramatic actress. An official wardrobe label on the inside lining of the dress reads: "1-27-1-7612 Marilyn Monroe A-66-05 #2." In fine overall condition, although numerous alterations have been made, including button removal, plaquet removal, and a replacement of the linen and lace collar. This costume is from the prestigious collection of Debbie Reynolds and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Debbie Reynolds and Darren Julien of Julien Entertainment. Proceeds from this sale go to benefit The Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum.
About The Film: One of Marilyn Monroe's emerging films, "Don't Bother to Knock" co-stars Richard Widmark in a story about a deranged girl who gets a baby-sitting job in a hotel and terrifies all concerned by threaten to kill her charge. Twentieth Century Fox released this picture in 1952.

Worn prominently by Monroe in the film, the leotard features a black sequin pattern across the entire bodice with an accent of rhinestones along the leg openings and a large floral pattern along the bustline. The matching stylized Dutch girl hat features black sequins across the crown and flaps and a green velvet lining with in the inside. Matching sewn-in wardrobe labels on the inside of the leotard and inside lining of the hat read, "1-25-1-4288, Marilyn Monroe, A698-69." This outfit was created by renowned costume designer William Travilla, who designed numerous costumes for Monroe throughout her career, including outfits for the film Bus Stop and the memorable white subway dress for the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch. Well preserved, this outfit stands in impeccable condition. This costume is from the prestigious collection of Debbie Reynolds and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Debbie Reynolds and Darren Julien of Julien Entertainment. Worn prominently by Russell in the film, the leotard features a black sequin pattern across the entire bodice with an accent of rhinestones along the leg openings. The matching stylized Dutch girl hat features black sequins across the crown and flaps and a green velvet lining with in the inside. Matching sewn-in wardrobe labels on the inside of the leotard and inside lining of the hat read, "1-25-1-4287, Jane Russell, A698-69." This outfit was created by renowned costume designer William Travilla, who created numerous costume masterpieces including the memorable white subway dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch. Some alterations have been made, including the removal of flowers along the bustline and removal of a tie string along the front of the bodice, otherwise this outfit stands in overall superb condition. An attractive 2-piece outfit--consisting of a dress and matching jacket--worn by Marilyn Monroe in her starring role as Lorelei Lee opposite Jane Russell in the 1953 classic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Created by costume designer Travilla, this grey ensemble features a matching grey fabricated pattern across the entire length of the dress and matching jacket. Both dress and jacket also feature a lovely satin trim accent that is highlighted by 2 grey satin trains that flow from the waist. A handwritten wardrobe label on the inside lining of the dress reads, "1-27-3-7914 M. Monroe A698-53." Well preserved, this true Hollywood artifact stands in excellent condition. A "must have" for any serious collector of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, offered here is a peach satin leotard with fishnet overlay and a pair of peach satin gloves with rhinestones, worn by none other than the legendary Marilyn Monroe herself as Lorelei Lee in the 1953 classic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Created by famed costume designer Travilla, outfits such as this leotard created a great controversy at the time of the film's release since it was considered too revealing for major stars as Monroe to wear. Ultimately, it was Monroe's ability and willingness to wear such outfits that made her perhaps the greatest sex symbol in the history of motion pictures! An official 20th Century Fox sewn-in wardrobe label on the inside lining of the leotard reads, "20th Century Fox, Marilyn Monroe." NOTE: The leotard and gloves were worn in the film, however, they are not a matching set and are seen separately. Originally acquired from Sotheby's and accompanied by an original Sotheby's sticker. In overall fine condition, with some rhinestones on the leotard and gloves missing. A marquee addition to any serious costume collection, presented here is a late-1800's styled jacket and dress worn by the legendary Marilyn Monroe, performing in one of her early roles as "Clara" in the 1950 film A Ticket to Tomahawk. In superb condition, this yellow jacket and dress combination, designed true to it's period (circa 1870's) features green velvet and braid trim across both pieces with a pleated tier to the skirt. 20th Century Fox costume labeling on the inside of the jacket states "Marilyn Monroe" and on the inside of the dress, "1-25-1-3843, A-581-14 #2, Marilyn Monroe." From condition to collectability, it doesn't get any better! About The Film: In 1950, Marilyn Monroe had a small part in "A Ticket to Tomahawk. Set in 1876, Dawson wants to prevent a train from getting to Tomahawk CO on time, to keep it from competing with his stage coach line. Kit, who must get the train to its goal, forces Johnny aboard as the needed passenger. Madame Adelaide's showgirls (including Marilyn as Clara) ride along and, en route to Tomahawk, join Johnny in "Oh, What a Forward Young Man You Are."
