Le 8 décembre 1954, Sammy Davis Jr. fête ses 29 ans et organise une fête d'anniversaire chez lui, sur Evanview Drive, à Los Angeles. Parmi les invités: Cindy Bitterman, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Bob Neal, Jeff Chandler ainsi que Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe et Milton Greene.
Après la fête, Sinatra, Bob Neal et Judy Garland se rendent au Crescendo Club pour voir Mel Torme.

Jess Rand, son publicitaire, organise une soirée chez lui à Los Angeles, pour fêter son propre anniversaire (son dernier en tant que célibataire avant qu'il ne se marrie avec Bonnie Byrnes une semaine plus tard) et pour marquer le retour de Sammy, invitant Jeff Chandler, Marilyn Monroe, Milton Greene. Marilyn portait une petite robe noire à fines bretelles.
On December 2, 1954, Sammy Davis Jr. made his first public appearance since his accident, wearing an eye patch. Jess Rand, Sammy's publicist, threw a birthday party for himself, his last as a single man -his wedding to pretty Bonnie Byrnes was a week away- but also for the back to Sammy. Many of Rand's and Sammy's friend's were there, giving the evening a feeling of warmth and celebration for both of them: Jeff Chandler, Milton Greene and Marilyn Monroe. She wore a black dress with spaghetti straps, and looked both seductive and hazy.
