Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) entre dans un bureau des coulisses du music-hall où est assis un homme, le portier M. Craig (Paul E Burns) et lui demande de dire à Miss Martin qu'il est arrivé.
Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) comes into the music hall backstage office where a man, the doorman Mr. Craig (Paul E Burns) is seated, and he asks him to tell Miss Martin he has arrived.
Dans sa loge, Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) finit de se préparer, elle remet en place ses cheveux et sa mère Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) encore en tenue de scène, est assise à la regarder. Le portier frappe à la porte et annonce que M Carroll l'attend. Mae propose au portier de faire venir M Carroll, ce qui semble surprendre Peggy. Sa mère lui répond que c'est ainsi l'occasion de le rencontrer.
In her dressing room, Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) finishes getting ready, she puts her hair back in place and her mother Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), still in her stage outfit, sits watching her. The doorman knocks on the door and announces that Mr. Carroll is waiting for her. Mae offers the doorman to bring Mr. Carroll, which seems to surprise Peggy. Her mother replies her that this is the opportunity to meet him.
Randy tape à son tour à la porte et Peggy va lui ouvrir, lorsqu'il découvre, intrigué, Mae assise en petite tenue de scène. Quand Peggy lui présente comme étant sa mère, Randy est sans voix, d'autant qu'elle retire sa perruque devant lui, ce qui semble mettre mal à l'aise Peggy. Puis Peggy dit à sa mère que Randy veut l'emmener en sortie pour la soirée et Randy demande à Mae si elle veut se joindre à eux. Mae refuse leur souhaitant de passer une bonne soirée et Peggy embrasse sa mère en lui promettant de ne pas rentrer trop tard. En sortant de la pièce, Randy regarde intrigué la perruque posée sur la banquette.
Randy in turn knocks on the door and Peggy is going to open it for him, when he discovers, intrigued, Mae sitting in her undress for the stage. When Peggy introduces him as her mother, Randy is speechless, especially as she removes her wig in front of him, which seems to make Peggy uncomfortable. Then Peggy tells her mother that Randy wants to take her out for the evening and Randy asks Mae if she wants to join them. Mae refuses, wishing them to spend a good evening and Peggy hugs her mother, promising not to come home too late. Leaving the room, Randy looks intrigued at the wig placed on the seat.
