Mi juin 1947, le chroniqueur Harrison Carroll rapporte dans sa rubrique des potins d'Hollywood que Marilyn Monroe a été aperçue en compagnie de Dave Street, dans une maison à Somerset (Los Angeles).
Dave Street est un chanteur et acteur américain né le 13 décembre 1917 (il a donc 9 ans de plus que Marilyn). Il rejoint les studios de la 20th Century Fox en 1945. En 1947, il a déjà divorcé deux fois (il a eu un fils avec sa première épouse Mary Frances Wilhite; puis a été marié avec l'actrice Lois Andrews en 1945 ; mariage qui sera annulé quelques mois plus tard). Son nom sera beaucoup mentionné dans les rubriques à potins de par son palmarés de vie privée: outre ses 6 mariages au total (dont quelques mois avec Debra Paget en 1958), il sera vu en compagnie de Ava Gardner, Shelley Winters, Cleo Moore, Marilyn Maxwell pour ne citer qu'elles. Entre 1946 et 1947 il sort avec Jane Nigh puis avec Pat Williams.

Mi juin 1947, le chroniqueur Sidney Skolsky rapporte dans sa rubrique des potins d'Hollywood que Marilyn Monroe fréquenterait David Rose, à travers une simple affirmation plutôt laconique "David Rose et Marilyn Monroe sont une combinaison...".
David Rose est un célèbre musicien (chanteur, pianiste, compositeur, arrangeur et chef d'orchestre) né le 15 juin 1910 à Londres qui a étudié la musique au conservatoire de Chicago pour ensuite s'installer à Los Angeles en 1928. Il a été marié aux actrices Martha Raye (de 1938 à 1941) puis à Judy Garland (de 1941 à 1944) et est ensuite aperçu dans des clubs en charmante compagnie (les actrices Jane Nigh en décembre 1945 et June Haver en 1946). Il compose pour le cinéma (des musiques de films), pour la radio (avec retransmission de concerts avec son orchestre) et travaillera en collaboration avec Red Skelton pendant 20 ans (pour ses émissions de radio et de télé).

He was married to the actresses Martha Raye (from 1938 to 1941) then to Judy Garland (from 1941 to 1944) and was then seen in clubs in charming company (actresses Jane Nigh in December 1945 and June Haver in 1946). He composes for the cinema (film music), for the radio (with retransmission of concerts with his orchestra) and will work in collaboration with Red Skelton for 20 years (for its radio and TV broadcasts).
