Madame Adelaide (Connie Gilchrist) demande à la sheriff Kit Dodge Jr (Anne Baxter) si elle peut partir avec ses filles avec le convoi en partance pour la ville de Tomahawk. Kit accepte et Adelaide appelle ses filles qui arrivent dans l'ordre de leur prénom: Annie (Marion Marshall) en robe rose, Ruby (Joyce MacKenzie) en robe bleue, Clara (Marilyn Monroe) en robe jaune et Julie (Barbara Smith) en robe verte. Elles tiennent toutes une grosse boîte à chapeau.
Madame Adelaide (Connie Gilchrist) asks Sheriff Kit Dodge Jr (Anne Baxter) if she can leave with her ladies with the convoy heading for the town of Tomahawk. Kit accepts and Adelaide calls her girls who arrive in the order of their first names: Annie (Marion Marshall) in a pink dress, Ruby (Joyce MacKenzie) in a blue dress, Clara (Marilyn Monroe) in a yellow dress and Julie (Barbara Smith) in a green dress. They all hold a big hatbox.

The great departure of the convoy: Madame Adelaide (Connie Gilchrist) travels in her caravan (where a sign is displayed "Madame Adelaide and her Sextet") with her singing and dancing girls [Clara (Marilyn Monroe), Ruby (Joyce MacKenzie), Annie (Marion Marshall) and Julie (Barbara Smith)]; they wave to the crowd.

Le convoi s'étant arrêté pour passer la nuit dans une clairière, les hommes interpellent Madame Adelaide (Connie Gilchrist) pour lui demander d'improviser un show avec les filles qui s'emballent immédiatement. Madame Adelaide se braque, mais provoquée par l'intervention de Johnny (Dan Dailey), elle accepte. Les filles [Clara (Marilyn Monroe), Ruby (Joyce MacKenzie), Annie (Marion Marshall) et Julie (Barbara Smith)] courent dans la tente pour aller se changer.
The convoy having stopped to spend the night in a clearing, the men call on Madame Adelaide (Connie Gilchrist) to ask her to improvise a show with the girls who immediately get carried away. Madame Adelaide is opposed, but provoked by the intervention of Johnny (Dan Dailey), she accepts. The girls [Clara (Marilyn Monroe), Ruby (Joyce MacKenzie), Annie (Marion Marshall) and Julie (Barbara Smith)] run into the tent to get changed.
