Il s'agirait de la première séance* photos de la mannequin Norma Jeane avec le photographe Bruno Bernard, surnommé "Bernard of Hollywood", prise probablement au printemps 1946. La future Marilyn Monroe porte son maillot de bain deux pièces rayé (de la marque Catalina).

This would be Norma Jeane's model first photo session with photographer Bruno Bernard, nicknamed "Bernard of Hollywood", probably taken in the spring of 1946. The future Marilyn Monroe wears her striped two-piece swimsuit (from the Catalina brand).

Susan Bernard, la fille de Bruno Bernard, détaillera la séance:
"La première fois que Bruno Bernard a rencontré Norma Jeane, c'était juste après un rendez-vous chez le dentiste sur Sunset Boulevard. Il lui a donné sa carte de visite et elle est venue le voir le lendemain matin pour faire des photos tests. Ces photos ont convaincu de lui faire décrocher son premier emploi qui était une publicité de bandage, où Norma Jeane panserait un chien, lors d'une séance de pose prise la même semaine. Pour le shooting, Bernard a emprunté le chien de son dentiste, Rolf, qui se trouvait en fait être le chien le plus proche du studio. Tout s'est bien passé lors de la séance et Norma Jeane a même donné des friandises au chien, qui étaient dans une boîte, comme on peut le voir sur la photo. Mais lorsqu’elle a découvert les tirages photos, elle a eu l’impression d’être éclipsée par le chien et elle a juré qu'elle ne laisserait plus jamais personne lui voler la vedette".

 

Susan Bernard, Bruno Bernard's daughter, will detail the session:
"Bruno Bernard first laid eyes on Norma Jeaen on Sunset Boulevard right after a dentist appointment. He gave her his business card and she came the very next morning to do the test shots. Those shots were enough to book her on her first job which was a bandage advertisement, where Norma Jeane would be bandaging a dog that same week. For the shoot, Bruno Bernard borrowed his dentist's dog, Rolf, who happened to be the closest dog in proximity to the studio. Everything was great at the shoot and Norma Jeane even fed the pooch treats from the box, which you can see in the image. But when she saw the images, she felt she was upstaged by the dog and she vowed she would never let anyone steal a scene from her again."
