Dans la salle, deux jeunes hommes [Peter Winthrop (Robert Clarke) et son pote (Myron Healey)] la regardent, semblant subjugués avec le sourire aux lèvres. Pendant sa prestation, Peggy tourne la tête vers les coulisses pour faire un clin d'oeil à sa mère Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), qui envoie un baiser par la main. Mae est assise avec d'autres filles de la revue (dont Carole Gallagher) dans les coulisses et elles obervent toutes avec attention la prestation de Peggy, en faisant des commentaires élogieux. Même le manager Joe (Frank J Scannell) fait part de sa satisfaction. La prestation scénique de Peggy se termine par de vifs applaudissements dans la salle et le regard empli de fierté de sa mère.

On stage, Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) dances and sings "Anyone Can See I Love You". In the audience, two young men [Peter Winthrop (Robert Clarke) and his friend (Myron Healey)] look at her, seeming captivated with smiles on their faces. During her performance, Peggy turns her head backstage to wink at her mother Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), who blows a kiss by the hand. Mae sits with other girls from the revue (including Carole Gallagher) backstage and they all watch Peggy's performance intently, making glowing comments. Even manager Joe (Frank J Scannell) expresses his satisfaction. Peggy's stage performance ends with loud applause by the audience and her mother's look of pride.

Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) est en voiture avec son copain (Myron Healey) et son cousin Peter Winthrop (Robert Clarke) qui est au volant. Le copain demande à Pete où il les emmène, il lui répond qu'ils vont voir "Peggy Martin". Randy ne la connait pas, il n'a pas encore vu la revue où elle se produit. Son copain lui dit qu'elle est "la nouvelle chérie du burlesque".

Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) is in the car with his friend (Myron Healey) and his cousin Peter Winthrop (Robert Clarke) who is driving. The buddy asks Pete where he is taking them, he replies they go to see "Peggy Martin". Randy doesn't know her, he hasn't seen the show where she is performing yet. Her friend tells him she's "the new darling of burlesque".

Sur scène, vêtue d'une longue robe noire à sequins, Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) danse et chante "Every Baby Needs a Da-da-daddy" (pouvant se traduire par "Chaque bébé a besoin d'un Pa-pa-papa"). Dans la salle, les trois jeunes hommes (Randy, son pote et son cousin) sont sous le charme. Pendant qu'elle danse en levant la jambe au bord de la scène, Randy est totalement ébloui. Ses amis lui disent que la mère de Peggy est aussi dans la revue. Pendant la chanson, les autres chanteuses et danseuses rejoignent Peggy sur scène. Parmi elles, Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), la mère de Peggy. Elles sont habillées en tenue de baby-doll, telles des nounous tenant des baigneurs qu'elles font danser au sol. Quand elles ont terminé leur prestation et sortent de scène, Randy applaudit énergiquement, les yeux pleins d'étoiles. 

On stage, wearing a long black sequined dress, Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) dances and sings "Every Baby Needs a Da-da-daddy". In the audience, the three young men (Randy, his friend and his cousin) are under the spell. While she dances, raising her leg at the edge of the stage, Randy is totally dazzled. Her friends tell him that Peggy's mother is also in the show. During the song, the other singers and dancers join Peggy on stage. Among them, Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), Peggy's mother. They are dressed in baby-doll outfits, like nannies holding bathers that they make dance on the ground. When they have finished their performance and leave the stage, Randy applauds vigorously, his eyes full of stars.

Pendant ce temps, sa fille Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) est au restaurant avec Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks). Ils s'observent avec tendresse et passion pendant que l'autre a le regard ailleurs. Puis Randy propose à Peggy de danser et elle accepte.

Meanwhile, her daughter Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) is at the restaurant with Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks). They observe each other with tenderness and passion while the other looks elsewhere. Then Randy proposes to Peggy to dance and she accepts.

Pendant qu'ils dansent une valse les yeux plongés l'un dans l'autre, Peggy fredonne sa chanson "Anyone can see i love you", la chanson d'amour qu'elle chante d'habitude sur scène.

As they dance a waltz staring into each other, Peggy hums her song "Anyone can see i love you", the love song she usually sings on stage.

Puis ils terminent la soirée dans une voiture décapotable garée en haut d'une falaise dont la vue surplombe l'océan. Peggy poursuit la chanson "Anyone can see i love you" par le refrain. Quand elle arrête de chanter, Randy lui demande de continuer. Peggy lui répond qu'il peut poursuivre la chanson à son tour mais il dit qu'il ne connait pas les paroles, alors Peggy lui dit de les inventer avec ses propres mots, ce qu'il fait mais en parlant. Puis ils se rapprochent l'un de l'autre pour s'embrasser.

Then they end the evening in a convertible car parked at the top of a cliff whose view overlooks the ocean. Peggy continues the song "Anyone can see i love you" with the chorus. When she stops singing, Randy asks her to continue. Peggy replies that he can continue the song on his own but he says he doesn't know the lyrics, so Peggy tells him to make them up in his own words, which he does but speaking. Then they come closer to each other to kiss.

Après avoir rencontré Peggy (Marilyn Monroe) et la mère de celle-ci Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), Adele Carroll (Nana Bryant) organise une fête pour annoncer les fiançailles de son fils Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) avec Peggy. Elle y a invité tous ses amis de la bonne société, ainsi que Billy MacKay (Eddie Garr), un comique burlesque à la retraite qui aime Mae depuis des années.
Pendant la fête,
le trio de musiciens (The Bobby True Trio qui interprète "Ubangi Love Song") qu'Adele a embauché pour divertir les convives, reconnaît Peggy et lui demande de chanter, l'interpellant par "Peggy, la reine du burlesque" devant tous les invités.

After meeting Peggy (Marilyn Monroe) and her mother Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), Adele Carroll (Nana Bryant) throws a party to announce her son Randy Carroll's (Rand Brooks) engagement to Peggy. She has invited all her friends from high society there, as well as Billy MacKay (Eddie Garr), a retired burlesque comedian who has loved Mae for years.
During the party, the trio of musicians (The Bobby True Trio who interpret "Ubangi Love Song") that Adele has hired to entertain the assembly, recognizes Peggy and asks her to sing, calling out "Peggy, the Queen of Burlesque" in front of all the guests.

Les invités sont scandalisés et se sentant snobés, Peggy et Mae fuient et montent à l'étage dans la chambre où elles ont été reçues, préparant leurs valises pour partir.
Adele les rejoint pour discuter et leur demande de ne pas s'enfuir, car cela ne fera qu'empirer la situation.
Mae, Peggy et Randy reviennent donc à la fête.

The guests are outraged and feeling snubbed, Peggy and Mae flee and go upstairs to the room where they were received, packing their suitcases to leave.
Adele joins them to chat and asks them not to run away, as it will only make the situation worse.
Mae, Peggy and Randy return to the party.

Adele et Billy descendent à leur tour les escaliers. C'est alors qu'Adele se place avec le trio de musiciens et se met à chanter une chanson avec la complicité de Billy qui l'accompagne au piano (le titre de la chanson est "You're Never Too Old").
A la fin de sa prestation, elle fait croire à l'assemblée qu'elle aussi a été chanteuse de revue dans le passé. Parmi ses amies, certaines sont amusées, d'autres choquées. Billy raconte secrètement à Mae qu'Adele a inventé cette histoire pour aider Randy et Peggy. 
Enfin, Adele se retrouve au centre de deux couples qui s'embrassent, présageant un futur double mariage: celui de Randy et Peggy et celui de Billy et Mae.

Adele and Billy go down the stairs in turn. It is then that Adele places herself with the trio of musicians and begins to sing a song with the complicity of Billy who accompanies her on the piano (the title of the song is "You're Never Too Old").
At the end of her performance, she makes believe to the assembly that she too has been a chorus girl in the past. Among her friends, some are amused, others shocked. Billy secretly tells Mae that Adele made up that lie to help Randy and Peggy.
Finally, Adele finds herself in the center of two kissing couples, presaging a future double marriage: that of Randy and Peggy and that of Billy and Mae.

Tests Costumes pour "Let's Make Love"

C'est l'acteur Gregory Peck qui est d'abord envisagé pour tenir le premier rôle masculin. On peut lire sur le panneau des screen tests des essayages costumes qu'il passe le 10 novembre 1959, que son personnage s'appelait Mark Bruester. Après que le scénario ait été remanié par Arthur Miller, Gregory Peck décide de se retirer du film jugeant que le rôle masculin était bien trop faible par rapport au rôle féminin.
That's the actor Gregory Peck who is first considered to lead the male role. We can read on the screen tests panel of the costume fittings he spent on November 10, 1959, that his character was called Mark Bruester. After the screenplay was reworked by Arthur Miller, Gregory Peck decides to withdraw from the film judging that the male role was far too weak compared to the female role.
