En 1985, Jerry Hall a 26 ans et elle est une mannequin internationalement reconnue. Quand elle pose sous l'objectif d'Annie Leibovitz, la célèbre photographe attitrée du magazine Vanity Fair, la mannequin et la photographe semblent s'être inspirées de l'image de Marilyn Monroe en reprenant -plus ou moins à l'identique- des poses célèbres de l'icône. Posant notamment nue dans une baignoire et dans un lit, les photos seront aussi publiées dans le magazine Playboy.
In 1985, Jerry Hall is 26 years old and she is an internationally famous model. When she poses under the lens of Annie Leibovitz, the famous photographer appointed to the magazine Vanity Fair, the model and the photographer seem to have been inspired by the image of Marilyn Monroe by taking - more or less identically - famous icon poses. Posing in particular nude in a bathtub and in a bed, the photos will also be published in the magazine Playboy.

En couverture du magazine américain Vogue de novembre 2015, Angelina Jolie, photographiée par Annie Leibovitz, pose sur une plage vêtue d'un large pull. Cette photographie n'est pas sans rappeler la séance Mexican Jacket de Marilyn Monroe prise par George Barris en juillet 1962 sur la plage de Santa Monica.

Pour les 100 ans du magazine américain Vanity Fair (édition octobre 2013 ) la mannequin et actrice Kate Upton, est mise à l'honneur, posant telle une pinup des années 1950s, sous l'objectif de la photographie Annie Leibovitz et du stylisme de Jessica Diehl. Pour ce numéro spécial, on lui a demandé de s'inspirer des débuts de Marilyn Monroe, lors de ses jeunes années de mannequinat. Et Kate reprend certaines séances photos célèbres de la jeune Marilyn.

Here’s what the 31-year-old actress, who wore Oscar de la Renta, shared:
On not being as guarded during interviews: “I feel like something has changed for me, but it’s a new change, so it’s going to be hard for me to describe. Maybe it has something to do with turning 30. I don’t feel as shy or nervous or self-conscious. I have more confidence that I can handle what life brings me. I don’t feel scared to have an idea and express it. I feel giddy about it because it’s a complete transformation. It’s like I’ve found my voice.”
On how daunting playing such an iconic figure was: “As soon as I finished the script [for My Week with Marilyn], I knew that I wanted to do it, and then I spent six months trying to talk myself out of it. But I always knew that I never really had a choice. I’ve started to believe that you get the piece of material that you were ready for.”
On gaining weight to approximate Marilyn’s curves: “Unfortunately, it went right to my face (puffs up cheeks to illustrate). So at some point it became a question of, Do I want my face to look like Marilyn Monroe’s or my hips?” (She opted for the former and filled out the latter with foam padding.)
