Authors: 
Terry Karger graduated from the University of Southern California in 1963, one year after Marilyn Monroe’s death. She taught at Crescent Heights Elementary and would later teach at Westwood Elementary where her students had parents such as Micky Dolenz, Millie Perkins, Ronny Cox, and Richard Pryor.
New York Times bestselling author Jay Margolis graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California and became a Jesse Unruh Research Scholar for his paper on African American Reparations. On October 15, 2014, The National Press Club in Washington, D.C. accepted Margolis’s book The Murder of Marilyn Monroe: Case Closed for display at the 37th Annual Book Fair & Authors’ Night, in partnership with Politics & Prose. The Murder of Marilyn Monroe: Case Closed was translated into Italian, French, and Russian and became a New York Times bestseller. Description: In July 1956, Marilyn Monroe arrived in London, on honeymoon with her husband Arthur Miller, to make The Sleeping Prince (later released as The Prince and the Showgirl) with Laurence Olivier.
When the couple arrived at London Airport, they were looking forward to a peaceful stay. Marilyn would work during the day at Pinewood Studios, while Arthur would write. Then, in the evening, the couple would be able to relax together in their private English country cottage. It didn't quite turn out that way.
The 'cottage' was actually a mansion, which belonged to Lord Drogheda, the managing director of the Financial Times. Raised in tiny hotel rooms and apartments, Marilyn felt herself being watched. She was, by Lord Drogheda's servants, who were selling stories to the papers.
When filming began, it was a disaster. Director Joshua Logan had written to Olivier, offering advice on how to handle Marilyn as an actress, but Olivier ignored him. Instead, he condescended to her in his introduction to the cast, pooh-poohed her views on acting, and dismissed her stage-fright as an inconvenience. Marilyn grew to hate Olivier with a passion; the feeling was mutual.
Marilyn found herself torn between settling into married life, being a curiosity for the frequently hostile British press, and her work on The Prince and the Showgirl. She took solace in small acts of kindness from members of the public, and a new fascination with Queen Elizabeth.
Marilyn made a point of adopting some of the Queen's favourite brands, buying gloves from Cornelia James, perfume from Floris, and switching from Chanel No. 5 to Yardley's Lavender. Marilyn made a point of asking the film's PR manager to add a royal meeting to her schedule, but each day Olivier would delete the request.
Michelle Morgan describes Marilyn's trip to late-1950s' Britain in evocative detail, exploring the making of the film alongside the film star's troubled private life and her quest to meet the Queen.

Parmi la pléthore d’ouvrages consacrés à Marilyn Monroe, le témoignage de Norman Rosten, paru en 74 aux Etats-Unis, est certainement le plus authentique. Poète, romancier, dramaturge et scénariste, Norman Rosten a été (avec sa femme Hedda) l'un des proches de Marilyn durant les sept dernières années de vie. Il l’avait rencontrée un jour de pluie par l’intermédiaire du photographe Sam Shaw (l’un des plus importants de la carrière de Marilyn, auteur de la photo de couverture). Shaw, en balade avec la comédienne à Brooklyn, s’était réfugié chez ses amis les Rosten pour échapper aux trombes d’eau. En comprenant à tort qu’elle s’appelait « Marion », les Rosten avaient d’abord pris la jeune fille aux cheveux trempés pour une starlette, petite amie de Shaw. Avant de comprendre que c’était la tête d’affiche de Sept ans de réflexion, récent triomphe au box-office. Ça ne les avait pas empêchés d’être d’emblée séduits par son charme. Toute leur relation sera ainsi placée sous le signe du naturel et de la spontanéité. Par la suite Rosten a d’autant plus fréquenté Marilyn qu’il était très ami avec son troisième mari Arthur Miller. Avec Arthur puis sans, Marilyn et les Rosten passeront quantités de dîners, week-ends, vacances ensemble, de Upper Manhattan à Brooklyn et aux plages de Long Island (où Norman la sauvera quasiment de la noyade un jour qu’elle voulait échapper à une horde de fans). Entre Norman et Marilyn, le lien était d’autant plus fort que la jeune femme, éprise de poésie, lui passait ses textes pour les soumettre à son jugement : « trouves-tu qu’il y ait de la poésie là-dedans ? ». Ils resteront proches jusqu’aux tout derniers instants de la vie de Marilyn. Tressé d’anecdotes drôles ou émouvantes, ce court témoignage, l’œuvre d’un écrivain, raconte Marilyn avec respect, et affection, et dresse un portrait qui s'impose par sa sincérité, par sa délicatesse, la justesse de son regard. Un diamant brut pour qui veut saisir qui était vraiment Marilyn.

Olivier Steiner gravite aux abords du trou noir de la mort de Marilyn, cherchant et creusant les heures et les jours autour de la date fatidique du 5 août 1962. Anne Gorouben décèle la présence de Marilyn, ses ombres, sa lumière, ses contours.

Résumé: Une femme est retrouvée morte. C’est Marilyn Monroe. La scène peu à peu est envahie : policiers, médecins, photographes, journalistes, voisins attroupés dans l’impasse, prêts à forcer le passage. Et puis, ce sont des flashes : un ami, un parent, un photographe qui se souvient d’un sourire, d’un mot, d’une danse. Une pose. Un immense éclat de rire. Et le lecteur est avec eux. Parfois même, dans la peau de Marilyn. Et puis, le trajet de ce corps sans vie qu’on cache tant bien que mal, dont on ne sait pas quoi faire, qu’il faut emmener à la morgue- Et ce photographe enfin qui parvient à s’introduire, qui « mitraille la dépouille »- Et puis encore, l’autopsie. Les premières annonces officielles, le choix des photos, de l’emplacement des articles, les coups médiatiques qui se préparent. Ceux qui se sentent coupables. La cérémonie- À la limite de la fiction et du reportage, le texte est cru, parfois noir, mais plein de pudeur, et toujours tendre, étincelant.
