Décès du photographe Douglas Kirkland

Le photographe Douglas Kirkland est décédé à l'âge de 88 ans ce dimanche 02 octobre 2022 à son domicile de Los Angeles auprès de sa femme Françoise (aussi sa partenaire professionnelle).
Il reste l'un des photographes des plus prolifiques (près de 2 000 commandes dans sa carrière) qui a immortalisé le tout Hollywood (il a été le photographe officiel des films L'Odyssée de l'espace, Titanic, Moulin Rouge, Bye Bye Love, Gatsby le magnifique) .

On lui doit la "séance du lit" ou "Une nuit avec Marilyn", celle où Marilyn Monroe a posé devant son objectif, allongée dans un lit nue mais recouverte d'un drap blanc, une séance prise le 17 novembre 1961 et qui feront l'objet d'un livre "Douglas Kirkland, une nuit avec Marilyn". Ces photos ont été depuis maintes fois copiées (comme Angelina Jolie ou encore plus récemment Léa Seydoux pour la campagne publicitaire de Vuitton).

  Photographer Douglas Kirkland died at the age of 88 this Sunday, October 02, 2022 at his home in Los Angeles next to his wife Françoise (also his professional partner).
He remains one of the most prolific photographers (nearly 2,000 commissions in his career) who immortalized all of Hollywood (he was the official photographer for the films A Space Odyssey, Titanic, Moulin Rouge, Bye Bye Love, The Great Gatsby).

We owe him the "Bed Sitting" or "An evening with Marilyn" session, the one where Marilyn Monroe posed in front of his lens, lying in a bed naked but covered with a white sheet, a session taken on November 17, 1961 and which will be the subject of a book "Douglas Kirkland, an evening with Marilyn". These photos have since been copied many times (like Angelina Jolie or even more recently Léa Seydoux for Vuitton's advertising campaign).
