A color photograph of Marilyn Monroe wearing a pink union suit in front of a fireplace, signed and dated 1953 in ink by photographer John Florea (as "Johnny Florea") in his copyright credit stamp on the verso. Florea became well-known as a photographer for Life magazine, specializing in portraits of actresses, from 1941 to 1949 (pausing to work as a war correspondent in World War II). After leaving Life, he continued his celebrity photography, and went on to have a second career as a successful TV writer, producer, and director from the 1960s through the 1980s. He took many well-known portraits of Monroe from 1950 to 1953.

A framed Belgian poster for the film The Seven Year Itch (Twentieth Century Fox, 1955).
Monroe co-starred alongside Tom Ewell in the Billy Wilder-directed comedy, an adaptation of the hit Broadway play. The poster features the image of Monroe wearing a white halter dress billowing above a subway grate, which instantly became one of the most iconic pop culture images of the 20th century and perhaps the image most closely identified with Monroe. The film was both a critical and commercial success.

The actress went through the contact sheets herself and personally crossed out many images that didn't meet her approval, using a thick red ink marker. The word "retouch" is written beneath one image.
