Pour son troisième film - le premier et l'unique film qu'elle tourne pour les studios de la Columbia - Marilyn Monroe figure en 2ème position au générique, juste après le nom de l'actrice Adele Jergens qui joue sa mère dans le film, suivies des noms de Rand Brooks, Nana Bryant, Eddie Garr, Steven Geray. 
Le film n'a pas rencontré un grand succès à sa sortie; c'est lorsque Marilyn Monroe va atteindre la célébrité en 1952 (avec le film de la Fox Niagara), que "Les reines du music-hall" ressort dans les salles américaines en novembre 1952, et cette fois-ci, le nom de Marilyn Monroe est placée en première position, afin de donner plus de promotion pour la re-sortie en salles.
Parmi les autres noms au générique figurent ceux des auteurs des chansons (Allan Roberts et Lester Lee), et aussi celui désigné par les studios de la Columbia pour faire répéter les chansons aux actrices (le superviseur musical) qui est Fred Karger. La rencontre avec Karger sera importante dans la vie de Marilyn car elle tombera follement amoureuse de lui et le considérera comme son premier véritable grand amour.

For her third film - the first and only film she shot for Columbia studios - Marilyn Monroe appears in 2nd position in the credits, just after the name of actress Adele Jergens who plays her mother in the film, followed by names of Rand Brooks, Nana Bryant, Eddie Garr, Steven Geray.
The film did not meet with great success upon the first release; it was when Marilyn Monroe rose to fame in 1952 (with the Fox film Niagara), that "Ladies of the Chorus" was reissued in American theaters in November 1952, and this time, Marilyn Monroe's name was placed in first position, in order to give more promotion for the reissue.
Among the other names in the credits appear those of the authors of the songs (Allan Roberts and Lester Lee), and also that designated by the studios of Columbia to make rehearse the songs with the actresses (the musical supervisor) who is Fred Karger. The meeting with Karger will be important in Marilyn's life because she will fall madly in love with him and will consider him as her first real great love.

Le film commence directement par la chanson chorale "Ladies of the chorus", avec un plan où Marilyn Monroe (assise) et Adele Jergens (debout derrière Marilyn) sont au centre. Après l'affichage du titre et du noms des acteurs / actrices, le reste du générique défile sur les images des chanteuses qui s'adonnent à une chorégraphie. Elles sont dix sur scène; puis au cours de la danse (lorsque le nom du producteur Harry A Romm apparaît à l'écran), Marilyn Monroe et Adele Jergens s'eclipsent de la scène, laissant ainsi les autres filles - au nombre donc de 8 - terminer la chorégraphie et la chanson.

The film begins directly with the choral song "Ladies of the chorus", with a shot where Marilyn Monroe (seated) and Adele Jergens (standing behind Marilyn) are in the center. After the display of the title and the names of the actors / actresses, the rest of the credits scroll over the images of the singers who devote themselves to a choreography. They are ten on stage; then during the dance (when the producer's name Harry A Romm appears on the screen), Marilyn Monroe and Adele Jergens leave the stage, leaving the other girls - 8 in number - to finish the choreography and the song.

Les filles de la revue [dont font partie Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) et sa fille Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe)], sont sorties de scène et s'installent dans leur grande loge partagée en commun. Bubbles LaRue (Marjorie Hoshelle) s'avance jusqu'à Peggy pour lui demander si elle va accepter le rendez-vous que lui a proposé un jeune homme. Mais Peggy, après avoir jeté un regard furtif vers sa mère, baisse les yeux, sans rien dire. Bubbles s'adresse alors à sa mère Mae pour lui dire que Peggy a besoin de s'amuser. Mae lui rétorque qu'elle et Peggy sont bien ensemble, elles n'ont pas besoin de se faire des amis et que si Peggy veut sortir, c'est avec sa présence. Bubbles répond ironiquement à Mae "très bien, maman !" puis elle s'avance vers les autres filles pour leur demander qui souhaite un rendez-vous galant et les autres filles répondent toutes en même temps excitées; Bubbles s'énerve et leur demande de se calmer.

The girls of the show [including Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) and her daughter Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe)] have left the stage and settled into their big shared dressing room. Bubbles LaRue (Marjorie Hoshelle) walks up to Peggy to ask her if she's going to go on a date with a young man. But Peggy, after casting a furtive glance at her mother, lowers her eyes, without saying anything. Bubbles then goes to her mother Mae to tell her that Peggy needs some fun. Mae retorts that she and Peggy are well together, they don't need to make friends and that if Peggy wants to go out, it's with her presence. Bubbles sarcastically responds to Mae, "Ok, Mother !" then she advances towards the other girls to ask them who wishes a tryst and the other girls answer all at the same time excited; Bubbles gets mad and asks them to calm down.

A l'appartement des Martin, Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) et sa fille Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) rentrent chez elle. Mae propose de faire du café mais Peggy n'en veut pas. Peggy s'asseoit dans le fauteuil et Mae remarque que quelque chose ne va pas. Une mise au point a alors lieu: Peggy reproche à sa mère de ne pas pouvoir sortir avec d'autres personnes. Mae lui répond qu'il est inutile d'aller à un rendez-vous avec un inconnu qui sera probablement plus âgé ou même marié avec des enfants. Peggy se fâche; elle rétorque à sa mère que celle-ci est constamment dans le jugement sans connaître les gens, qu'elle doit toujours demander la permission à sa mère pour sortir, que sa mère la traite comme une enfant. Une fois avoir dit à sa mère ce qu'elle pensait, Peggy part se coucher. Mae reste sans voix, surprise d'avoir entendu ces reproches.

At the Martins' apartment, Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) and her daughter Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) go back home. Mae offers to make coffee but Peggy doesn't want it. Peggy sits in the chair and Mae notices something is wrong. A clarification then takes place: Peggy criticizes her mother for not being able to go out with other people. Mae replies that there is no point in going on a date with a stranger who will probably be older or even married with children. Peggy gets angry; she retorts to her mother that she is constantly in judgment without knowing people, that she must always ask her mother's permission to go out, that her mother treats her like a child. After telling her mother what she was thinking, Peggy goes to bed. Mae is speechless, surprised to have heard these reproaches.
