Ava Gardner - site web - en anglais

cliquez sur la bannière / Click on banner
.

Official website of actress Ava Gardner: with Marilyn, they posed as swimsuit models for the February 1948 issue of Holiday magazine; they crossed paths at parties (such as the New Year's Eve party on December 31, 1948, at Sam Spiegel's); legend has it that they frequented (along with Dorothy Dandridge) the lavish parties held at producers' villas when they were starlets; they shared mutual friends: Norman Rosten, Truman Capote, Carson McCullers, and Carl Sandburg. Ava was married to Mickey Rooney (Marilyn's co-star in "The Fireball") and to Frank Sinatra (a friend of Marilyn's). However, no photographs of them together exist.

The "Ava Gardner Museum" located in North Carolina is featured (clothing, letters, personal belongings), the website details Ava's life by decade, the awards she received, her filmography, and a FAQ with anecdotes. The "blog" section has not been updated since 2023 but contains numerous themed posts.

Elizabeth Taylor - site web - en anglais

cliquez sur la bannière / Click on banner
.

.

The official website of actress Elizabeth Taylor, considered Marilyn's rival at Fox (due to the difference in their salaries and roles), whom the press liked to pit against each other (the Oscar-winning brunette versus the blonde bombshell), reached the peak of their rivalry during Marilyn's last film (Something's Got to Give) while Liz was filming Cleopatra; however, they never exchanged harsh words and crossed paths at parties (in 1952 at the Henrietta Awards, in 1959 at the gala organized by Fox for Khrushchev's visit, and they shared the same table - the only photos showing them together - at a Rat Pack performance at Sand's in 1961).
The site presents Liz's life as a timeline—with an original, illustrated design—and features "The House of Taylor" (a private archive of Liz's life), podcasts, the official biography, and her AIDS foundation (which has its own website, Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation).
On social network: the official Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok pages are regularly updated with posts containing photos and anecdotes (some posts are similar).

.
Joan Crawford - site web - en anglais

cliquez sur la bannière / Click on banner
.

.

Actress Joan Crawford's website states that she met Marilyn at a party at Joe Schenck's house (around 1948/49) and offered her fashion advice, but Marilyn later recounted that she had no money and therefore didn't follow her fashion dictates. Later, at the 1953 Photoplay Awards ceremony, where Marilyn wore Travilla's gold lamé dress, Crawford made virulent and regular remarks about Marilyn in the press (calling her vulgar) – that's the fact Marilyn recounted in a 1955 article, "This is my story," which was later compiled into a book considered as her biography, "My Story." Some biographers suggest that during their initial meeting, Joan Crawford, who was bisexual, made advances toward Marilyn, which she rejected, thus explaining Crawford's animosity towards her. They would meet again at other events: in 1955 at the premiere of Rose Tattoo and in 1956 at the presentation to the Queen of England.
The website is very rich in information and images: comprehensive, detailed, and regularly updated: a chronological biography by decade, films, numerous photos in chronological order and with context, television and radio programs she participated in, advertisements, magazines and books, places where she lived, letters she wrote, and an encyclopedia (
an A-to-Z guide with an article about Marilyn).

Ralph L Roberts - site web - en français

.

.

Official website of Ralph L. Roberts: a former actor (he met Marilyn at the Strabergs' home in 1955 and attended the Actors Studio as an actor), he became Marilyn's masseur (present on the set of "The Misfits" in 1960) and attended her funeral.
The website includes a brief biography of Roberts, which quotes him (he states that he was friends with Marilyn and traveled extensively with her during her travels), and
Marilyn is frequently mentioned throughout the various sections (a "Marilyn" section contains Roberts' personal archives: photos he took of Marilyn during "The Misfits," some of Marilyn's writings, and a spoon that Marilyn had given him) as well as the presentation of his book "Mimosa".

The official website of actor and singer Yves Montand, Marilyn Monroe's co-star in the film "Let's Make Love", who was also her lover during filming in 1960.
The site is divided into five sections: Tributes, Biography, Filmography, and Bibliography.
The website is very factual;
the biography section presents Montand's life and career in chronological order.
Marilyn is featured in the chapter "1958-1963 America": the American tour of Montand, where Hollywood stars were in the audience, including Marilyn and her husband Arthur Miller when he performed on Broadway on September 10, 1959, followed by the signing of the contract to film "Let's Make Love" and his affair with Marilyn, including quotes (from Montand and his wife Simone Signoret). The filmography section simply presents his films (posters, release dates, director, and cast) without any further information.
of course, "Let's Make Love" is obviously included. The same goes for the discography section, which only lists the albums with the titles; we find the soundtrack of the film with 2 titles mentioned: "Let's Make Love" and "Incurably Romantic" (duet with Marilyn).

.
Marlon Brando - site web - en anglais

cliquez sur la bannière / Click on banner
.

The official website of actor Marlon Brando, a student at the Actors Studio attended by Marilyn Monroe; they were friends and, for a time, lovers.
The site is regularly updated, as evidenced by the articles in the news section.

The biography is a very brief summary of his life. The filmography presents each film with its poster, a synopsis, and a link to IMDb and the DVD sales page on Amazon. The photo section is rather sparse (few images). The videos feature clips and trailers from his films, as well as excerpts from interviews. A short article describes the island of Tetiaroa in French Polynesia, where Brando settled. It explains that Brando acquired 12 islands to pursue an eco-responsible project that culminated in the creation of the Brando Resort in 2014 (with 35 luxury villas, restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and marine activities) and the Tetiaroa Society, founded in 2010 to support Marlon's vision (a model of sustainable development and a site for scientific research with a strong global impact).
No reference to Marilyn Monroe appears on the official website.
On social network: the official
Instagram (where each picture is accompanied by anecdotes and information) and Facebook are regularly updated with photographs.

Clark Gable - site web non officiel - en anglais

cliquez sur la bannière / Click on banner
.

Unofficial website of actor Clark Gable, Marilyn's childhood idol who used to go see his films with Jean Harlow when she was a child and whom she identified as a fictional father (from a portrait of her real father who had a resemblance to Gable, hanging on the wall of her mother's room); Marilyn would play with the last actor's film "The Misfits" in 1961.
This "Legendary Clark Gable" website is run by a fan and historian (Pierre Montiel), launched in 2011, and is full of information about the actor nicknamed "the King of Hollywood," who had a 30-year career. The site is somewhat disorganized, not chronological, with thematic sections: his early years, the year 1937, his involvement in the Second World War, the 1950s constitute the part of his life with his wives (including a page on his great love Carole Lombard); For his career, there is a list of his films with a focus on some which have dedicated pages (the role of Christian in Mutiny on the Bounty, the role of Butler in Gone with the Wind, the film San Francisco, Idiot's Delight, Mogambo...) as well as pages devoted to the director Capra, the list of his female partners on screen (including separate pages devoted to Jean Harlow, Joan Crawford, Loretta Young, Lana Turner), with a portraits section which compiles photographs through the years and various anecdotes (his love for cars, magazine covers, caricatures...); a page is devoted to the film "The Misfits" with Marilyn Monroe.

Official website of actor and dancor Donald O'Connor, Marilyn Monroe's co-star in the 1954 movie "There's no business like show business."
The official website, run by the cmg group, is a little more substantial than the other pages of the artists whose licenses they hold, but is still very succinct: a biography, a list of his film and television roles and the awards he has received.

Jane Russell - site web non officiel - en anglais

cliquez sur la bannière / Click on banner
.

Unofficial website of actress Jane Russell, Marilyn's co-star in the 1953 film "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and a friend; they met when they were young because Jane attended the same school and grew up in the same neighborhood as Jim Dougherty, Marilyn's first husband.
This site is run by a fan and author of a biography on Jane Russell (Christina Rice, whose book is presented in the dedicated section). It is quite rich in photographs, but not much in information because the biography is rather brief (Marilyn is mentioned by the fact that Jane posed for Tom Kelley - like Marilyn - and was very devout, she organized prayer sessions and invited Marilyn to attend). The most interesting part is the "News" section, which is presented as a blog, with one post = one day = one or more photos of moments in Jane Russell's life, contextualized and spanning a year (with 365 posts - Marilyn is present in post Day 176 when she posed with Jane with their hands and feet in cement). The filmography is very basic as it only presents a list of her films. Finally, Jane, being very committed to facilitating international adoption, founded the WAIF organization in the 1950s, with a page dedicated to the history of this organization.

The official website, maintained by the CMG Group, is more extensive than the other pages of the artists whose licenses they hold: a biography, anecdotes and quotes, a list of her films and acting awards, a news section presented as a blog (though no longer updated since December 2019), and an introduction to the "Bette Davis Foundation," which
raise funds to award scholarships to aspiring actresses and actors, as well as talented students in a cross section of related fields within the entertainment industry.

.
Frank Sinatra - site web - en anglais

cliquez sur la bannière / Click on banner
.

The official website of actor and singer Frank Sinatra, nicknamed "The Voice" because he is considered one of the greatest American crooners: Marilyn Monroe admired the singer (she owned several of his records) and was his friend (especially during the last two years of his life, when they were part of the Rat Pack, which included Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Peter Lawford); it is also rumored that they were lovers.
The website is regularly updated with information (tribute concerts, collector's album releases, etc.).
The Timeline section presents his biography in a playful way, although the story of his life and career is covered far too quickly (just a few key dates and facts). The music section doesn't allow users to listen to his songs on streaming platforms (
spotify, apple); the lack of even a complete discography is regrettable. The media section features only a few photos (7 pictures) and about ten videos from YouTube (excerpts from interviews with celebrities talking about him).
No reference to Marilyn Monroe appears on the official website.
On social network: the official Facebook and X (ex Twitter) are identical (containing the same posts) and are far more prolific in terms of content (photos, albums, videos) and regularly updated. An official Youtube channel contains numerous videos solely related to his music career (no film clips or interviews), presented in a format similar to the short videos on his official TikTok account.

The official website of actor, singer, dancer, and performer Sammy Davis Jr., a member of Sinatra's Rat Pack, was a friend with Marilyn Monroe. It is reported that they had an affair (around 1955). The artist was also an amateur photographer and is said to have taken pictures of Marilyn.
The site was launched in 2023 by a team that includes his son, Manny Davis.
The biography is presented from three perspectives: the man, the artist, and the icon. The photo section links to the official Instagram page. The video section includes stage performances and film trailers. The music section is arguably the most complete, listing all of Sammy Davis's albums. Finally, the projects section lists upcoming events such as tribute concerts. No reference to Marilyn Monroe appears on the official website.
The site also links to another website, "The Unofficial Catalogue of the career of Sammy Davis, Jr." much more accomplished than the official website, and Marilyn is mentioned in the biography section, covering the period from 1951 to 1955.
On social network: the official
Facebook and Instagram are identical (same photo posts) and regularly updated; the official YouTube channel features the videos presented on the website.

It contains a concise and fairly detailed biography (with bibliographical references at the end of articles). The sections are divided into sub-chapters, and the "The Man" section includes his marriages, including a page dedicated to Marilyn Monroe. Arthur Miller - site web - en anglais

.

The official website of "The Arthur Miller Society," dedicated to the writer Arthur Miller, Marilyn Monroe's third husband, focuses exclusively on his work through six main sections, as well as a journal (the table of contents of which can be viewed, but access is restricted to members of the "Miller Society" who participate in conferences and the study of Miller's work). It appears, based on the journal, that the website has not been updated since 2017.
The biographical section is rather brief: it consists of a factual page presenting key dates in Miller's life.

In contrast, the "Miller's Works" section compiles his literary and theatrical works; in connection with Marilyn, an entire page is devoted to the play "After the Fall" (written by Miller in 1964 and performed on various stages around the world, and whose main character, "Maggie," is heavily inspired by Marilyn's personality). Miller had already drawn on Marilyn's personality for the screenplay of the film "The Misfits" (directed by John Huston), for the character of Roslyn that she played.

Lot 09: Marilyn Monroe 1962/1990 Never-Published Black and White Photograph by Allan Grant

Taken on July 7, 1962, less than one month before her death, Grant's photographs of Marilyn Monroe are now in the realm of legend. In a strange twist of fate, they were published for the first time in the August 3, 1962 issue of LIFE Magazine, just two days before her passing. Though we've seen a few of Grant's beautiful and haunting images of the star for decades now, this particular photograph has never been seen by the public.
Grant shot twelve rolls of black and white film that day in July, though only eight images were seen in LIFE. In the years that followed, he created a limited number of prints for licensing and private sale, leaving most of his Monroe archive untouched and unseen by the public.

In 2025, Grant's family partnered with Chris Flannery & Jason Greene of 1962 MM LLC to exhibit, print, and offer these rediscovered works in the collection "Marilyn's Lost Photos." Julien's is proud to present one of these "Lost Photos" here. Please visit www.marilynslostphotos.com for more information.

(Please note the edges of both are slightly yellowed due to age.)

NOTE: This gate section is extremely large and heavy. Please be aware of additional shipping costs should you win this lot. If you live in the Southern California region, it can be picked up in person at Julien's warehouse in Gardena, CA.
Dimensions: 67 x 41 x 2 inches; Weight; 150 pounds

Estimate: $100 - $200 USD / Sold: $-
