Cette scène faisait partie des diverses séquences des "fantasmes imaginaires" du personnage de Richard Sherman, interprété par Tom Ewell. On y découvrait Marilyn Monroe, plus sexy que jamais, aux allures de vamp, parodiant l'actrice américaine des années 1930, Mae West. Mais la scène fut malheureusement coupée au montage et les rushes tournés n'ont, à ce jour, jamais été montrés.

Dans le livre "Marilyn Among Friends" de Sam Shaw et Norman Rosten, on découvre la raison pour laquelle la scène a été supprimée:
"Billy Wilder était impressionné par son talent comique. Il la voyait comme apparenté au personnage de Mae West, et a suggéré, qu'en créant son style de comédie unique, elle pourrait travailler dans des films jusqu'à ses 80 ans.
Le réalisateur Billy Wilder a demandé à Marilyn de 'se mettre dans la peau' de Mae West, ironisant l'imitation de Miss West des hommes gais. Marilyn, extrêmement féminine, manquait de l'élément d'hostilité et de ridicule envers les hommes, qui seraient essentiels pour de telles imitations. Elle a raté le test."

This scene was one of the several sequences of "imaginary fantasies" of the character Richard Sherman, played by actor Tom Ewell. Marilyn Monroe was shown, sexier than ever, looking like a vamp, parodying American actress of the 1930s, Mae West. But unfortunately, the scene was deleted and rushes filmed have,until today, never been shown.
 
In the book "Marilyn Among Friends" by Sam Shaw and Norman Rosten, there is an explanation of the reason why the scene was deleted:
"Billy Wilder was impressed with her comic talent. He saw her as akin to the Mae West character, and suggested by creating her unique comedy style she could work in films until she was eighty.
Director Billy Wilder asked Marilyn to do a "send-up" of Mae West, satirising Miss West's imitation of gay men. Marilyn, supremely feminine, lacked the element of hostility and ridicule toward men that would be essential in such impersonations. She flunked the test."

Il s'agit ici d'une mise en scène: Marilyn était très connue à cette époque, et elle ne prenait pas les transports en communs, se déplacant plutôt en taxi ou voiture avec chauffeur. Cependant, même si les new-yorkais se retournent en la voyant, les gens la laissent plutôt tranquille. Elle est accompagnée de son agent Dick Sheperd.
De retour dans la rue, Marilyn regarda autour d'elle avec un sourire taquin. "Voulez-vous la voir?" demanda-t-elle; là, elle enleva son manteau, ébouriffa ses cheveux, et cambra son dos pour prendre la pose. En un instant, elle a été engloutie, et cela amena plusieurs bousculades, des minutes effrayantes jusqu'à se dégager de la foule grandissante. 
This is here a staging as Marilyn was really popular at that time, and she didn't take public transport, means moving rather taxi or limousine. However, even if New Yorker recognized her, people leave her rather quiet. She is accompanied by her agent Dick Shepherd.  
Back up on the street, Marilyn looked around with a teasing smile. “Do you want to see her ?” she asked, then took off the coat, fluffed up her hair, and arched her back in a pose. In an instant she was engulfed, and it took several shoving, scary minutes to rewrap her and push clear of the growing crowd.

C'est Robert Stein (éditeur au magazine Redbook) et le photographe Ed Feingersh, qui ont emmené Marilyn dans ce bar restaurant. On la voit admirer les dessins de James Thunder accrochés au mur, assise à une table en face du bar. C'est Tim Costello, le propriétaire, qui prit la commande de Marilyn: une vodka.
Tim, le plus souvent méfiant envers les étrangers, a été clairement intrigué par la flambée des cheveux blonds et, dans un geste rare, est venu prendre lui-même les commandes.
"Un tournevis s'il vous plaît," dit Marilyn. Tim était sans expression.
"Vodka et jus d'orange», a-t-elle ajouté.
Tim continuait à la regarder. "Nous ne servons pas de petit déjeuner ici", a-t-il dit.
«OK», dit agréablement Marilyn, "vodka 'on the rocks'."
Tim a donné l'ordre à son frère Joe au bar et retourna à la lecture de son journal. Plus tard, comme Eddie se dirigeait vers les toilettes des hommes, Tim l'a arrêté. «Qui est-elle?"
Eddie sourit. «Marilyn Monroe».
Le visage de Tim s'assombrit. "Je pose une question civile et vous faîtes de l'intelligence."
Eddie sourit à nouveau et Tim retourna à son papier.
Dans l'heure, plus personne d'autre ne donna à Marilyn plus qu'un coup d'oeil. Alors qu'elle partait, un photographe au bar tapota Eddie sur le bras. «Si vous revenez plus tard," at-il murmuré, «amenez votre petite amie."  
This is Robert Stein (editor at Redbook magazine) and the photographer Ed Feingersh, who took Marilyn in the Costello' s restaurant. She admires James Thunder drawings hung on the wall, sat at a table across from the bar. This is Tim Costello, the owner, who took the order of Marilyn: a vodka. 
Tim, usually wary of strangers, was clearly intrigued by the blaze of blonde hair and, in a rare gesture, came over to take the orders himself.
“A screwdriver please,” Marilyn said.
Tim was expressionless.
“Vodka and orange juice,” she added.
Tim kept looking at her. “We don’t serve breakfast here,” he said.
“O.K.,” Marilyn said agreeably, “vodka on the rocks.”
Tim gave the order to his brother Joe at the bar and went back to reading his paper. Later, as Eddie was heading to the men’s room, Tim stopped him.
“Who is she?”
Eddie smiled. “Marilyn Monroe.”
Tim’s face darkened. “I ask a civil question and you get smart.”
Eddie smiled again and Tim went back to his paper.
In the hour there no one else gave Marilyn more than a quick look. As she was leaving, a photographer at the bar tapped Eddie on the arm. “If you come back later,” he stage-whispered, “bring your little friend.”
