L'Histoire: Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall et Betty Grable, mannequins sans le sou, n'ont qu'un objectif : épouser un richard. Un festival de blondeur et de bons mots.
Fatiguée des losers, dont le pompiste qu'elle a commis l'erreur d'épouser, la classieuse Schatze Page (Lauren Bacall), mannequin de son état, échafaude un plan pour se façonner un meilleur destin avec Pola et Loco, deux collègues tout aussi blondes qu'elle mais beaucoup moins futées. Elles louent un appartement luxueux à Manhattan afin de se faire passer pour des femmes riches et harponner de beaux partis. Leurs maigres fonds s'épuisent rapidement...

La Critique d'arte: L'argent ne fait pas le bonheur.
Si l'intrigue est réduite à sa plus simple expression, le trio contrasté des trois héroïnes et le brio des dialogues font tout le charme de cette comédie. La femme fatale reine du bon mot (Lauren Bacall) et les deux ravissantes idiotes (Marilyn Monroe et Betty Grable) sont aussi belles que drôles (Marilyn fait une composition hilarante en myope qui refuse de porter des lunettes pour ne pas compromettre ses chances de séduction). Moulées dans des costumes somptueux, ces trois déesses des années 50 éclipsent largement leurs partenaires masculins - c'est d'ailleurs la seule touche féministe que l'on puisse discerner dans l'affaire. La morale, quant à elle, est sauve puisque tout le monde finit évidemment par se marier par amour.

Résumé: Adapté du roman éponyme de Michel Schneider, un portrait totalement inattendu de la star dans sa relation avec le psychanalyste Ralph Greenson.
Trente mois durant, de janvier 1960 à août 1962, ils formèrent le couple le plus improbable : la déesse du sexe et le psychanalyste freudien. Elle lui avait donné comme mission de l'aider à se lever, de l'aider à jouer au cinéma, de l'aider à aimer, de l'aider à ne pas mourir. Il s'était donné comme mission de l'entourer d'amour, de famille, de sens, comme un enfant en détresse. Il voulut être comme sa peau, mais pour avoir été la dernière personne à l'avoir vue vivante et la première à l'avoir trouvée morte, on l'accusa d'avoir eu sa peau.
En adaptant le roman de Michel Schneider Marilyn, dernières séances, Patrick Jeudy réalise un portrait totalement inattendu de la star. Formellement, le film est superbe : les thèmes et les époques se succèdent de façon non linéaire, mais toujours logique - comme lors de séances de psychanalyse. Un récit kaléido-scopique illustré par de riches archives, qui, tout en nous replongeant dans les milieux du cinéma (Cukor, Huston, Wilder), de la littérature (Capote, Miller) et de la politique (les Kennedy, la CIA, le FBI), permet de saisir pour la première fois l'immense détresse de Marilyn à la fin de sa vie.

1953_03_15_LookAward_Price_010Le 13 mars 1953, Marilyn Monroe reçoit le prix "Look Award" de "La débutante la plus prometteuse de l'année 1952" decerné par le magazine Look. C'est l'actrice Lauren Bacall, qui avait tourné le film Comment épouser un millionnaire avec Marilyn, qui lui remet le prix pour la séquence filmée. D'ailleurs Marilyn portait une robe du film.
In March, 13, 1953, Marilyn Monroe receives the "Look Award" of
the "Most Promising Female Newcomer of 1952" from 'Look Magazine Achievement Awards'. This is Lauren Bacall, partner of Marilyn in How to Marry a Millionaire who gives her the award. Marilyn is wearing a dress from the movie.
