Le dimanche 12 juin 1955, Marilyn Monroe donne une interview à la radio de NBC, en répondant aux questions du journaliste Dave Garroway dans la première émission de NBC Monitor de 20h00 à 20h30.
Marilyn exprime son admiration pour la ville de Brooklyn, son "lieu préféré au monde", "la meilleure vue, les gens, les rues, l'atmosphère"; et quand le journaliste lui demande quelle sont ses personnes préférées à New York, elle répond en premier "Ella Fitzgerald, la plus grande chanteuse", puis Frank Sinatra pour son "style" et aussi Sammy Davis Jr.
La chanson "Heat Wave" est diffusée et dans le reste de l'entretien, Marilyn exprime son désir de s'accomplir en tant qu'actrice, ses débuts à la Fox où durant un an, elle n'a tourné que dans "Scudda Hoo Scudda Hay"; qu'elle est reconnaissante pour son succès mais que parfois elle souhaite être elle-même à l'extérieur et elle porte une perruque pour se fondre dans la masse.
Quand Garroway lui demande quel serait l'objet qu'elle sauverait s'il y aurait le feu chez elle, elle répond des "livres".
On Sunday June 12, 1955, Marilyn Monroe gives an interview on NBC radio, answering questions from reporter Dave Garroway on the first NBC Monitor show from 8:00 p.m to 8:30 p.m.
Marilyn expresses her admiration for the city of Brooklyn, her "favorite place in the world", "the best view, the people, the streets, the atmosphere" and whe the journalist asks to her what is her favorite people in New York, she answers first "Ella Fitzgerald, the greatest singer", and Frank Sinatra for his "style" and also Sammy Davis Jr.
The song "Heat Wave" is played and in the rest of the interview, Marilyn expresses her desire to accomplish herself as an actress, her debut at Fox where for a year, she only shot in "Scudda Hoo Scudda Hay"; that she is grateful for her success but sometimes she wishes to be herself outside and she wears a wig to be like anyboy.
When Garroway asks her what material thing she would save if there was a fire in her house, she replies some "books".

lot n°762: MARILYN MONROE EARLY SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH
An early black and white headshot of Marilyn Monroe inscribed to her then neighbor Phil Hooper. Inscription reads “To Phil Best Wishes Always Sincerely Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jeane).” Monroe and Hooper both lived at El Palaccio Apartments in West Hollywood. Monroe showed Hooper her photographs as they discussed their careers, and he asked her to sign a photograph for him. The image was signed at some time in 1947–48. Norma Jeane had begun using the name Marilyn Monroe in 1946 but did not change it officially until 10 years later. The photograph has remained in the possession of the Hooper family since the time of the signing. 10 by 8 inches

A contract amendment between Marilyn Monroe and Twentieth Century Fox to extend Monroe’s contract by six months. The amendment is typed on Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation letterhead, addressed to “Miss Marilyn Monroe/(Norma Jeane Dougherty),” dated February10, 1947, and signed in the lower left “Marilyn Monroe/Norma Jeane Dougherty.” The amendment states that the studio is exercising its right to extend Monroe’s contract by sixth months. In August 1947, Fox opted not to renew Monroe’s contract. 11 by 8 1/2 inches

lot n°765: MARILYN MONROE / NORMA JEANE HANDWRITTEN LETTER
An eight-page handwritten letter from Norma Jeane Dougherty (Marilyn Monroe) to Grace Goddard dated June 4, 1945. The letter tells how busy Norma Jeane has been and how she has not worked at the Radioplane factory since January. Norma Jeane explains that she was photographed by Army photographers and met a man named David Conover who was “awfully nice and is married and is strictly business, which is the way I like it.” She tells how Conover has been photographing her and encouraging her to become a model. Of her husband Norma Jeane writes, “Jimmy seems to like the idea of me modeling so I’m glad about that.” The future Marilyn Monroe ends the letter “I shall be so happy to see you again dear and to see Daddy and Bebe, because I love you all so much...With love, Norma Jeane.” Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope. 7 by 4 1/4 inches

A behind-the-scenes amateur reel filmed on the set of Some Like It Hot (United Artists, 1959) sold with copyright. The color reel, with no audio, shows the cast of the film, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, and Tony Curtis, on the beach outside the Hotel Coronado in San Diego, California. Monroe can be seen in a black and white swimsuit and wearing two different robes. Curtis is shown in his swim trunks and wearing a suit coat. Lemmon appears in full makeup as his female character Daphne. The four-minute, 32-second film has been converted to a DVD.

In 1963, this book was published under the title The Making of The Misfits . Journalist Goode provides a day-to-day glimpse of the making of this film, from Arthur Miller writing it to the problems with completing the film. 11 by 9 by 2 inches

In the original faux shagreen cardboard case with attached silk tassel. The box is marked inside the lid “Caron 10 rue de la Paix Paris France.” The case can be seen in a 1952 photograph taken of Monroe in her home. The bottle was given to Frank Rosenberg and his wife by Marilyn Monroe. Rosenberg’s connection to Monroe was not only in films; his father was a business partner of Arthur Miller’s father. A harem costume worn by Marilyn Monroe for a 1958 photoshoot with Richard Avedon. Avedon dressed Monroe as five of Hollywood’s famed leading ladies. In this costume, Monroe dressed as Theda Bara in her role as Cleopatra. It is purported that this was part of Monroe’s campaign to play the role of the Egyptian queen in the film Cleopatra that eventually starred Elizabeth Taylor. The costume is comprised of a goldtone brassierewith snake motif cups, prong set costume gems and metal ring straps, and a skirt created by a series of scarves affixed to a gold lame bikini bottom. The accessories include a serpentine headdress with goldtone linked rings at each side, three pressed metal wristbands and armbands with arabesque designs, and a belt designed to be worn at the hip with goldtone bead, gen and paillette embellishments. A raw silk pink ensemble worn by Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch (20th Century Fox, 1955). The costume is composed of a three-quarter-length-sleeve top and tapered leg pants containing a costumer’s label that reads “Marilyn Monroe A-734” and a maker’s label that reads “designed by Jax.” Pants feature back zipper closure and shirt features deep V neckline with wing collar. Monroe can be seen wearing the ensemble with a matching belt, now absent, as she portrayed “The Girl” in the film. No size present.

lot n°812: MARILYN MONROE CECIL BEATON TRIPTYCH
A three-panel sterling silver custom-made Cartier frame, gifted to Marilyn Monroe by Nedda and Joshua Logan. The center frame houses a black and white silver gelatin print of the portrait Cecil Beaton took of Monroe in 1956. This image is purported to be Monroe’s favorite image of herself. The portrait is mounted to board and signed on matte by Beaton. The center frame is engraved at the top “For Marilyn Monroe Miller” and at the bottom “Love Nedda and Joshua Logan.” Joshua Logan directed Monroe in her 1956 film Bus Stop. The left and right frames house a handwritten letter from Cecil Beaton describing Monroe. It reads in part, “But the real marvel is the paradox – somehow we know that this extraordinary performance is pure charade, a little girl’s caricature of Mae West. The puzzling truth is that Miss Monroe is a make-believe siren, unsophisticated as a Rhine maiden, innocent as a sleepwalker. She is an urchin pretending to be grown-up, having the time of her life in mother’s moth-eaten finery, tottering about in high-heeled shoes and sipping gingerale as though it were a champagne cocktail. There is an otherworldly, a winsome naiveté about the child’s eyes…” The portrait can be seen in images of Monroe’s living room, where it was housed from 1956 until the actress’ death in 1962.

En août 1953, Marilyn Monroe , Robert Mitchum et Rory Calhoun sont en plein tournage de River of no return (La rivière sans retour) au Canada. Ils recoivent la visite de Shelley Winters, amie de Marilyn, qui se trouve aussi au Canada pour le tournage de Saskatchewan (La brigade héroïque); ainsi que Lita Baron la femme de Calhoun. Marilyn est vêtue de la robe en laine qu'elle porte dans l'une des scènes du film Gentlemen prefer blondes (Les hommes préfèrent les blondes).

17/06/1953 Beverly Hills Hotel Party
Le 17 juin 1953, Marilyn Monroe et Jane Russell participent au dîner d'anniversaire de l'acteur Charles Coburn, partenaires du film Gentlemen Prefer Blonds au The Masquer Rib & Roast Dinner du Beverly Hills Hotel. Lors de cette soirée, Marilyn rencontre Ronald Reagan, qui était alors acteur. Le photographe Bruno Bernard immortalise leur rencontre. Marilyn porte une robe de William Travilla.
Après la fête, Marilyn Monroe rejoint le chroniqueur Earl Wilson et sa femme dans une chambre à l'étage pour une interview accompagnée d'une session photos, par Earl Wilson.
