 La première photographie apparaît dans quelques scènes du film "Les reines du music-hall" en 1948, dans lequel joue Marilyn Monroe (ce sera le seul film qu'elle tournera pour la Columbia). On découvre le portrait encadré dans l'appartement où son personnage, Peggy, vit avec sa mère Mae Martin (Adele Jergens).
- D'abord dans les scènes où Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) se rend chez Mae Martin (Adele Jergens); ils discutent dans le petit salon et le portrait se trouve sur la table basse (- blog: Ladies of the Chorus - scènes 15 - Captures ).
- Puis dans la scène où Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) et sa mère Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) sont dans leur appartement et préparent leurs valises. Le portrait se trouve sur une commode placée à côté du couloir menant aux chambres (- blog: Ladies of the Chorus - scènes 16 - Captures ).

The first photograph appears in few scenes from the film "Ladies of the Chorus" in 1948, in which plays Marilyn Monroe (this will be the only movie she will make for Columbia). The framed portrait can be discovered in the apartment where her character, Peggy, lives with her mother Mae Martin (Adele Jergens).
- First in the scenes where Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) visits Mae Martin (Adele Jergens); they are chatting in the small living room and the portrait is on the coffee table.
- Then in the scene where Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) and her mother Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) are in their apartment and are preparing their suitcases. The portrait is on a chest of drawers placed next to the hallway leading to the bedrooms.

L'autre photographie apparaît dans un autre film de la Columbia "Riders of the Whisting Pines", un western tourné en 1948 (et sorti sur les écrans en 1949). Marilyn Monroe ne joue pas dans le film, mais sa photographie apparaît à plusieurs reprises. Son rôle étant celui de l'épouse défunte d'un aviateur; sa photographie apparaissant dans plusieurs scènes et suffisamment assez longtemps pour être remarquée.
Dans la première scène où elle apparaît, on y voit l'acteur Gene Autry qui ramasse par terre la photographie de la poche du pilote d'avion qui est parti; et dans une autre scène, Gene Autry conduit en voiture l'aviateur et lui rend la photo qu'il avait perdu; puis Gene Autry chante une chanson pendant que l'aviateur admire la photo de sa femme; enfin, peu avant le final, l'aviateur offre un dernier salut à la photographie de sa femme, accrochée sur son cockpit, avant de se suicider en avion.

The other photograph appears in another Columbia movie "Riders of the Whisting Pines", a western filmed in 1948 (and released on screens in 1949). Marilyn Monroe does not act in the film, but her photograph appears several times. Her role being that of the deceased wife of an airman; her photograph appearing in multiple scenes and long enough to be noticed.
In the first scene where it appears, the actor Gene Autry is seen by picking up the photograph from the pocket of the airplane pilot who has left; and in another scene, Gene Autry drives the airman and gives him back the photo he had lost; then Gene Autry sings a song while the airman admires his wife's picture; finally, shortly before the finale, the aviator offers a last salute to the photograph of his wife, hung on his cockpit, before committing suicide in the plane.

Enfin, la troisième photographie colorisée a été utilisée dans une publicité mexicaine en 1951 pour les produits pour cheveux de la marque Clairol.

Finally, the third colorized photograph was used in a 1951 Mexican advertisement for Clairol brand hair products.

Ces portraits officiels ont peut être été pris le même jour (elle porte le même top noir) que ces photographies en coulisses où Marilyn Monroe se fait coiffer par Helen Hunt, coiffeuse des studios de la Columbia, qui participait ce 08 avril 1948 à un show de coiffures organisé au Wilshire Ebell Theatre. Marilyn étant coiffée comme Rita Hayworth, l'une des "clientes" de Helen Hunt à la Columbia.

These official portraits may have been taken the same day (she wears the same black top) as these behind-the-scenes photographs where Marilyn Monroe has her hair done by Helen Hunt, hairdresser from the Columbia studios, who took part in a hairdressing show organized at the Wilshire Ebell Theater on April 08, 1948. Marilyn having her hair done like Rita Hayworth, one of Helen Hunt's "clients" at Columbia.

En août 1944, Norma Jeane Dougherty participe à une soirée organisée par l'usine Radioplane où elle travaille. Elle est élue reine de beauté et remporte un "war bond" d'une valeur de 50 Dollars pour avoir fait une suggestion utile à la direction.
(un "war bond", très répandu aux Etats-Unis lors de la seconde guerre mondiale, sont des obligations de guerre c'est à dire des titres de créance obligataires dans le but de financer le pays en temps de guerre).

In August 1944, Norma Jeane Dougherty takes part in a party organized by the Radioplane factory where she works. She is elected Beauty Queen and wins a "war bond" worth 50 Dollars for making a useful suggestion to management.
(a "war bond", very common in the United States during the Second World War, are debt securities issued by a government to finance military operations and other expenditure in times of war).

 L'événement fera l'objet d'un article dans la revue interne syndicale de l'usine: The Radioplane Static du 23 août 1944.

The event will be the subject of an article in the internal union magazine of the factory: The Radioplane Static of August 23, 1944.

During the early part of the evening, a halt was called and our Queen Norma Jeane Dougherty and her two attendants - Pearl Stersens and Jean Kirov - were surrounded to the mike by Art Shepro who presented the Queen with a beautiful floral coronet and a $50 War Bond. By that time the Army and Marines had the situation well in hand.

Au début de la soirée, une halte a été annoncée et notre reine Norma Jeane Dougherty et ses deux préposés - Pearl Stersens et Jean Kirov - ont été entourés au micro par Art Shepro qui a présenté à la reine une belle couronne florale et une obligation de guerre de 50 Dollars. À ce moment-là, l'armée et les marines avaient la situation bien en main.

Marilyn Monroe à New York dans l'appartement studio de Jean Howard sur la 77ème rue; photographiée par Jean Howard (l'ex épouse de Charles Feldman qui est le producteur et agent de Marilyn) en 1954.
Pour cette séance photos, Marilyn arrive avec une heure et demie de retard. Elle commence par prendre place devant la cage aux oiseaux de la photographe (un cadeau de Tony Duquette, décorateur de plateau), vêtue de sa petite robe noire qu'elle surnommait sa "robe porte-bonheur". Mais la photographe souhaite autre chose, voulant s'écarter des stéréotypes de photographies sexy et glamour de Marilyn. En farfouinant dans son dressing, elle prête à Marilyn sa veste noire en taffetas de chez Hattie Carnegie et s'ensuit une série de photographies d'une Marilyn plus naturelle.
Quelques temps plus tard, à une soirée donnée par Gloria Vanderbilt, Marilyn a surpris Jean en déclarant: "Jean a pris les meilleures photos de moi que je n'ai jamais eu".

For that shooting, Marilyn arrives an hour and a half late. She begings to took place in front of the birdcage (a gift of Tony Duquette to Howard, a designer for films), dressed in her little black dress that she called her "lucky dress". But the photographer wants something else, willing move away from stereotypes of sexy and glamorous pictures of Marilyn. Looking in her closet, she loans her favorite Hattie Carnegie black taffeta jacket and they took a sitting of photos of a more natural Marilyn.
Sometimes later at a Gloria Vanderbilt's party, Marilyn startled Howard by saying, "Jean took the best pictures of me I've ever had."
