Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) est en voiture avec son copain (Myron Healey) et son cousin Peter Winthrop (Robert Clarke) qui est au volant. Le copain demande à Pete où il les emmène, il lui répond qu'ils vont voir "Peggy Martin". Randy ne la connait pas, il n'a pas encore vu la revue où elle se produit. Son copain lui dit qu'elle est "la nouvelle chérie du burlesque".

Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks) is in the car with his friend (Myron Healey) and his cousin Peter Winthrop (Robert Clarke) who is driving. The buddy asks Pete where he is taking them, he replies they go to see "Peggy Martin". Randy doesn't know her, he hasn't seen the show where she is performing yet. Her friend tells him she's "the new darling of burlesque".

Sur scène, vêtue d'une longue robe noire à sequins, Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) danse et chante "Every Baby Needs a Da-da-daddy" (pouvant se traduire par "Chaque bébé a besoin d'un Pa-pa-papa"). Dans la salle, les trois jeunes hommes (Randy, son pote et son cousin) sont sous le charme. Pendant qu'elle danse en levant la jambe au bord de la scène, Randy est totalement ébloui. Ses amis lui disent que la mère de Peggy est aussi dans la revue. Pendant la chanson, les autres chanteuses et danseuses rejoignent Peggy sur scène. Parmi elles, Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), la mère de Peggy. Elles sont habillées en tenue de baby-doll, telles des nounous tenant des baigneurs qu'elles font danser au sol. Quand elles ont terminé leur prestation et sortent de scène, Randy applaudit énergiquement, les yeux pleins d'étoiles. 

On stage, wearing a long black sequined dress, Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) dances and sings "Every Baby Needs a Da-da-daddy". In the audience, the three young men (Randy, his friend and his cousin) are under the spell. While she dances, raising her leg at the edge of the stage, Randy is totally dazzled. Her friends tell him that Peggy's mother is also in the show. During the song, the other singers and dancers join Peggy on stage. Among them, Mae Martin (Adele Jergens), Peggy's mother. They are dressed in baby-doll outfits, like nannies holding bathers that they make dance on the ground. When they have finished their performance and leave the stage, Randy applauds vigorously, his eyes full of stars.

Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) entre dans la loge de sa fille Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) lui demandant si elle a besoin d'elle pour se préparer. Puis le portier M. Craig (Paul E Burns) apporte un paquet cadeau à Peggy: il s'agit d'une orchidée emballée dans un paquet transparent et accompagné d'une carte où il y est inscrit: "Merci pour la plus agréable des soirées." Mae demande à Peggy de qui cela provient, mais Peggy ne lit aucun nom sur la carte. Mae trouve cela étrange et déduit que cela ne doit pas provenir de quelqu'un de sérieux, comme un homme marié.

Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) walks into her daughter Peggy Martin's (Marilyn Monroe) dressing room asking her if she needs her to get ready. Then the doorman Mr. Craig (Paul E Burns) brings Peggy a gift package: it's an orchid wrapped in a transparent packet and accompanied by a card that reads: "Thank you for the most enjoyable evening." Mae asks Peggy who it's from, but Peggy doesn't read any names on the card. Mae finds this strange and deduces that it must not be from someone serious, like a married man.

The doorman Mr. Craig (Paul E Burns) brings a gift package to Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe): it is another orchid. Peggy reads the card that accompanies it, where it is inscribed "To a charming young lady".

Un paquet cadeau contenant une orchidée a encore été envoyée à Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe). Elle ouvre la petite enveloppe qui accompagne le paquet et lit la carte: "J'adorerais vous rencontrer".

A gift package containing an orchid was again sent to Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe). She opens the small envelope that accompanies the package and reads the card: "Would love to meet you".

Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) entre dans la loge de sa fille Peggy pour lui apporter une énième orchidée emballée dans un paquet cadeau transparent. Peggy étant occupée, Mae lui pose le paquet sur la table.
Quand Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) découvre le paquet, Mae arrive en lui demandant s'il n'y a toujours pas de nom signé, mais Peggy lui répond que non, et qu'elle aimerait savoir qui est cet admirateur secret. Mae sort en lui disant qu'elle va faire du shopping. Seule, Peggy fait défiler l'ensemble des cartes reçues avec les orchidées: "A une charmante jeune femme", "A une très belle femme", "J'adorerais vous rencontrer", "Merci, pour l'agréable soirée", et l'enveloppe portant l'adresse de "Miss Peggy Martin, Rome Theatre" comporte le cachet de la boutique de la fleuriste "Mimi".

Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) enters her daughter Peggy's dressing room to bring her yet another orchid wrapped in a transparent gift box. Peggy being busy, Mae puts the package on the table for her.
When Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) discovers the package, Mae arrives asking her if there is still no signed name, but Peggy replies no, but she would like to know who this secret admirer is. Mae walks out telling her she's going shopping. Alone, Peggy scrolls through all the cards received with the orchids: "To a charming young lady", "To a very beautiful lady", "Would love to meet you", "Thanks, for a lovely evening", and the envelope bearing the address of "Miss Peggy Martin, Rome Theatre" with the stamp of the florist's shop "Mimi".
