Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) se rend chez la fleuriste Mimi (Gladys Blake). Peggy remarque immédiatement une orchidée dans son paquet d'emballage transparent au comptoir, ressemblant aux orchidées qu'elle reçoit en cadeau par un mystérieux admirateur. C'est alors que sans rien lui avoir demandé, la fleuriste lui dit qu'il s'agit d'une commande d'un homme élégant qui vient régulièrement à sa boutique pour lui commander à chaque fois une orchidée qu'il paye en liquide, accompagnée d'une carte qu'il ne signe jamais de son nom, destinée à une femme dont le nom est Peggy Martin à l'adresse d'un théâtre du burlesque. Elle lui dit aussi qu'il va arriver d'une minute à l'autre.
Quand la fleuriste lui demande ce qu'elle souhaite comme fleurs, Peggy tourne sa tête vers le bouquet d'oeillets posés sur le comptoir et ne lui en achète qu'un seul. Peggy la paye puis elle sort pour attendre sur le trottoir devant la boutique.

Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) goes to the florist Mimi (Gladys Blake). Peggy immediately notices an orchid in its clear wrap packet at the counter, resembling the orchids she receives as a gift from a mysterious admirer. It was then that without having asked her anything, the florist told her that it is an order from an elegant man who regularly came to her shop to order an orchid each time for which he paid in cash, accompanied by a card that he never signs with his name, intended for a woman whose name is Peggy Martin at the address of a burlesque theater. She also tells her that he will arrive any minute.
When the florist asks her what flowers she would like, Peggy turns her head to the bouquet of carnations on the counter and buys her just one. Peggy pays her then she goes out to wait on the sidewalk in front of the shop.

C'est alors qu'un jeune homme (Rand Brooks) entre chez la fleuriste. La fleuriste lui donne sa commande: l'orchidée emballée dans son paquet et il s'asseoit à la petite table à côté pour écrire la carte.
Peggy l'observe à travers la vitrine et entre à son tour dans la boutique, avançant jusqu'à lui, restant debout à côté de lui. Il pense qu'il s'agit de la fleuriste mais en levant la tête, il découvre que c'est Peggy. Il se lève, ôte son chapeau et reste sans voix. Peggy lui demande alors si l'orchidée lui est destinée et il lui donne. Quand elle lui demande son nom, il lui répond "Randy Carroll". Peggy lui sert alors la main, déclarant être enchantée de le rencontrer. Randy ne lui lâche plus sa main puis il propose à Peggy de l'accompagner à une sortie et elle accepte. Ils sortent ensemble de la boutique et la fleuriste les regarde bouche bée.

It is then that a young man (Rand Brooks) enters the florist's. The flower shop woman gives him his order: the orchid wrapped in its packet and he sits down at the small table nearby to write the card.
Peggy observes him through the window and enters the shop in turn, advancing towards him, remaining standing next to him. He thinks it's the florist woman but looking up, he discovers it's Peggy. He gets up, takes off his hat and is speechless. Peggy then asks him if the orchid is for her and he gives it to her. When she asks his name, he replies "Randy Carroll". Peggy then shakes his hand, declaring to be niced to meet him. Randy doesn't let go of her hand anymore then he proposes to Peggy to accompany him on an outing and she accepts. They come out of the shop together and the florist looks at them speechless.
