• Dans la version originale, le premier couplet parle d'un couple Johnny et Mary: il est timide mais est un amant exceptionnel. Dans le deuxième couplet, on apprend que désormais Johnny est devenu très populaire auprès des dames. La chanson laisse des questions sans réponses sur la situation de Marie.

Le 15 avril 1947, Marilyn Monroe fait partie des starlettes invitées et honorées (les "Studio Starlings") à la cérémonie annuelle de la légion américaine "Meet Colonels" du Post 43 au Hollywood Legion Stadium. Parmi les starlettes représentant les studios figurent:
Jane Harker, Dorothy Malone, Arlene Dahl, Penny Edwards de la Warner Bros;
Olga San Juan et Wanda Hendrix de la Paramount;

GLORIA HENRY 
Née le 02 avril 1923 à La Nouvelle-Orléans, elle a 24 ans en 1947 et débute tout juste sa carrière au cinéma en signant avec la Columbia. Arrivant à Los Angeles à la fin de l'adolescence, elle apparaît dans des shows radiophoniques et publicitaires, et se produit sur scène dans des petites troupes de théâtre. Elle tournera dans une petite 30aine de films en dix ans, de petites productions. Ses films les plus connus sont "L'Homme de main" en 1949 avec George Raft et "L'Ange des maudits" de Fritz Lang en 1952 avec Marlène Dietrich. Elle enchaîne ensuite en tournant dans des séries tv (Perry Mason, Denis la malice, Dallas). Sa dernière apparition à l'écran remonte à 2012 dans un épisode de "Parks and Recreation".
Côté vie privée, elle a été mariée deux fois: d'abord avec Robert D Lamb (de 1943 à 1948) puis avec l'architecte Graig Ellwood (de 1949 à 1977) avec qui elle a eu trois enfants.

Arriving in Los Angeles in her late teens, she appeared in radio and advertising shows, and performed on stage in small theater groups. She will appear in around 30 films in ten years, small productions. Her most famous films are "Johnny Allegro" in 1949 with George Raft and "Rancho Notorious" by Fritz Lang in 1952 with Marlene Dietrich. She then continues by turning in TV series (Perry Mason, Dennis the Menace, Dallas). His last screen appearance was in 2012 in an episode of "Parks and Recreation".
On the private side of her life, she was married twice: first to Robert D Lamb (de 1943 à 1948) and second, to the architect Graig Ellwood (from 1949 to 1977) with whom she had three children.

NANCY SAUNDERS

Elle signe ensuite pour la Columbia; en 1947, elle a 22 ans et elle est à l'affiche de 13 films cette année là. Elle fait aussi la couverture du magazine LIFE en compagnie d'autres actrices en herbe "les 9 starlettes prometteuses" avec Jane Greer, Martha Hyer, Debra Alden, Virginia Huston, Mimi Berry, Bonnie Blair, Bonnie Lester et Nan Leslie. Elle est aussi la doublure de Rita Hayworth ("La Dame de Shangai" en 1947 et "Les amours de Carmen" en 1948) et tourne trois comédies avec les Stooges. Sa carrière décline dans les années 1950s, elle s'écarte du milieu et travaille comme hôtesse d'acceuil dans une agence de voyage (pour Air Cal Airlines). DOROTHY MALONE
  De toutes les starlettes, Dorothy Malone est celle qui a réussi à se faire un nom. Née le 29 janvier 1924 à Chicago, sa famille s'installe à Dallas; elle a quatre frères et soeurs et la famille sera frappée par le drame: deux de ses soeurs meurent de la poliomyélite et son frère est frappé par la foudre. Populaire au lycée, elle est sportive et remporte des prix de natation et d'équitation. Elle s'installe à Hollywood et en plus de mener une carrière de pin-up, elle signe un contrat avec la RKO en 1943 (elle sait chanter et danser et joue dans deux comédies musicales avec Frank Sinatra) puis avec la Warner Bros en 1945 et tourne dans le désormais grand classique "Le Grand Sommeil" avec Humphrey Bogart et Lauren Bacall en 1946 mais la Warner ne reconduit pas son contrat. Elle quitte le cinéma et retourne vivre à Dallas et travaille dans une agence d'assurance et c'est lors d'un voyage d'affaire qu'elle découvre la ville de New York qui la fascine. Elle s'y installe et prend des cours de théâtre (à l'American Theatre Wing) et apparaît devant le petit écran dans des films de séries B et des shows TV (comme le Martin & Lewis Show).
Naturellement brune, elle se décolore en blonde platine, signe un contrat avec Universal et enchaîne les petits rôles (dans quelques westerns et films mineurs) jusqu'à remporter l'Oscar de la meilleure actrice dans un second rôle dans "Ecrit sur du vent" en 1957 avec Rock Hudson et Lauren Bacall. Popular in high school, she is athletic and wins swimming and riding awards. She moved to Hollywood and in addition to pursuing a pin-up career, she signed a contract with the RKO in 1943 (she knew sing and dance and played in two musicals with Frank Sinatra) then with the Warner Bros in 1945, and turns in the now great classic "The Big Sleep" with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in 1946 but the Warner doesn't renew its contract. She leaves the cinema and returns to live in Dallas and works in an insurance agency and it's during a business trip that she discovers the city of New York which fascinates her. She moved there and took acting lessons (at the American Theater Wing) and appeared in front of the small screen in B-series movies and TV shows (like the Martin & Lewis Show).
Naturally brunette, she faded into platinum blonde, signed a contract with Universal and played small roles (in a few westerns and minor films) until winning the Oscar for best actress in a supporting role in "Written on the wind" in 1957 with Rock Hudson and Lauren Bacall. In the 1960s, she played in the TV soap "Peyton Place" and continued her career on the TV screen until the 1980s, before retiring to return to live in Dallas, only returning to Hollywood occasionally: her last role was a participation in "Basic Instinct" in 1992 with Sharon Stone. She died of natural causes in 2018, at the age of 93.
