Le mardi 8 juillet 1958, une conférence de presse est organisée par la Fox au Beverly Hills Hotel pour présenter le tournage du film Some Like It Hot, avec les acteurs (Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis et George Raft), le réalisateur Billy Wilder, le producteur Harold Mirisch; ainsi que de nombreux journalistes comme Louella Parsons, Army Archerd et de nombreux photographes comme Earl Leaf.
Marilyn informa les journalistes que son mari Arthur Miller, resté à New York, la rejoindra à Los Angeles le week-end prochain.
Elle déclara: "C'est tout simplement merveilleux d'être de retour !"

On Tuesday, July 8, 1958, a press conference was organized by Fox at the Beverly Hills Hotel to present the filming of "Some Like It Hot", with the actors (Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and George Raft), director Billy Wilder, producer Harold Mirisch, as well as many journalists as Louella Parsons, Army Archerd and many photographers like Earl Leaf.
Marilyn told the reporters that her husband Arthur Miller, stayed in New York, would join her in Los Angeles the next weekend.
She said that "it's simply wonderful to be back !"

Date: le 15 septembre 1954, à une heure du matin.
Lieu: entre la 51 et 52st Street, au croisement de Lexington Avenue, New York City.
Scène: il s'agit d'une scène mythique, l'une des plus célèbres de l'histoire du cinéma, qui reste sans doute la "scène la plus vue au monde", celle où la robe blanche de Marilyn se soulève entraînée par l'air d'une grille de métro. La presse en parla comme de "l'exhibition la plus intéressante depuis Lady Godiva".

Date: September 15, 1954, at one o'clock.
Location: between 51 and 52st Street on the corner of Lexington Avenue.
Scene: it is a mythical scene, one of the most famous in the history of cinema, which is probably the "most scene view in the world," the one where the white dress of Marilyn Monroe rises, driven by the blow of the subway grate. The press spoke of as "the most interesting exhibition since Lady Godiva".

Vers une heure du matin (donc le 15 septembre 1954), alors que le tournage devait débuter, plusieurs centaines de photographes et journalistes se bousculaient pour prendre place, au milieu d'une foule de milliers de spectateurs (d'après Billy Wilder, il y avait près de 5 000 personnes; mais un journal avança le nombre d'environ 1 000 personnes), qui appréciait chaque moment en poussant des hourras et en criant avec frénésie "Plus haut! On the evening of September 14, 1954, police erected barriers of wood in front of the movie theater "Trans-Lux Theater" at the intersection of Lexington Avenue and 52nd Street. The advertising department studios had not missed the opportunity to prevent the press in communicating the place of the shooting and ensuring that traffic was blocked.
About one o'clock in the morning (so September 15), while filming was to begin, hundreds of photographers and journalists jostled to take place in the middle of a crowd of thousands of spectators (from Billy Wilder, there were nearly 5,000 people; but a newspaper talked about 1,000 people), who enjoyed every moment cheering and shouting

Le vent était géré par une machine installée en-dessous de la grille d'aération du métro, sur laquelle Marilyn prenait place. Le responsable des effets spéciaux, Paul Wurtzel, avait fait placer un gigantesque ventilateur, afin que le courant d'air soit assez puissant pour soulever la robe de Marilyn et ainsi dévoiler ses jambes et sa culotte blanche. C'est pour cette raison que Marilyn, prévoyante, portait deux culottes blanches superposées, afin d'éviter tout effet de transparence, bien que certains ont suggéré le contraire (comme Bruno Bernard), affirmant qu'elle ne portait qu'une culotte transparente. Apparemment, les techniciens qui manipulaient le ventilateur perçurent des pots-de-vin pour permettre à certains spectateurs d'avoir une vue "dégagée" d'en dessous.

The wind was managed by a machine set below the subway gate, on which Marilyn took place. The special effects supervisor Paul Wurtzel, had placed a huge blower so that the air stream is enough powerful to lift the dress of Marilyn and thus reveal her legs and her white panties. It is for this reason that Marilyn, provident, wore two white panties superimposed to avoid transparency effect, although some have suggested otherwise (as Bruno Bernard), claiming she was wearing a transparent panties. Apparently, the technicians who handled the blower took money by some viewers, who had in return, an "open" view from below.

  Avant que le tournage ne débuta avec les acteurs, on fit des essais avec des doublures: c'est Gloria Mosolino qui répéta, en huit prises, la scène de Marilyn afin de régler les lumières et l'air propulsé, et elle ne toucha que 20 Dollars et un repas pour ces répétitions. 
 Before filming with the actors, tests were made with actors' stand-in: Gloria Mosolino repeated, in eight takes, the scene of Marilyn to adjust the lights and air powered, and touched only 20 Dollars and a meal for these rehearsals.

Jasper remembers Marilyn Monroe

It is part of Jasper’s history that many outside the mountain town don’t even know about.
In August 1953, famed Hollywood director Otto Preminger, along with full cast and crew, descended upon the community to film a big-budget western called “River of No Return”.
In the movie starred veteran actors Robert Mitchum and Rory Calhoun, but for many the most exciting cast member to visit their town would be iconic actress Marilyn Monroe.
Sixty years later, an exhibit in Jasper-Yellowhead Museum entitled “Jasper Remembers Marilyn” has many residents reliving the starlet’s visit to their Rocky Mountain town.
Harry Home and Sandy Robinson, long-time residents of Jasper and young adults at the time, easily recall a day six decades ago as if it was yesterday. “She looked gorgeous the day she stepped off the train”, recalls Robinson.
Cast and crew took in everything the Jasper area had to offer and weren’t afraid to take the time to chat with residents. “She was always visiting with everybody” Home remembers if his personal experience with Monroe.

Val Delill, exhibit designer and coordinator at the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum, was amazed at the response by residents as she and her staff asked people to talk about that special summer in 1953. “It was amazing to watch all these stories come out of the woodwork” said Delill. “Every time you thought you had all the stories you could find, someone else would come forward with a story”. The exhibit features dozens of pictures and stories of people and places, like the dance hall Monroe and co-star Robert Mitchum used to go to after a long day of shooting.
I remember that one night, they came and they danced”, says Harry. “If you had nerve enough to ask them to dance, they’d dance with you.”
Monroe’s death in 1962 was especially sad for Jasper’s residents, but their memories of happier times are being reignited by a unique tribute to the fallen Hollywood Icon and now she touches their lives. The Jasper Remember Marilyn exhibit is now showing at the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum until September 22, 2013.

Cette histoire fait partie de Jasper et beaucoup de gens qui vivent en dehors des montagnes n’en sont même pas au courant.
En août 1953, Otto Preminger, le fameux directeur hollywoodien, est descendu sur Jasper avec toute son équipe au complet afin de tourner un western à grand budget « La Rivière Sans Retour ».
Les acteurs vétérans Robert Mitchum et Rory Calhoun jouaient dans le film mais, pour les habitants de l’endroit, la Star qui les attirait vraiment était l’icône du cinéma Marilyn Monroe.
Soixante ans plus tard, une exposition au Musée Jasper-Yellowhead intitulée « Jasper se souvient de Marilyn » replonge les habitants au moment où Marilyn a visité cette ville de montagne.
Harry Home et Sandy Robinson, habitants de longue date à Jasper et adolescents lors du tournage, se souviennent d’un jour il y a soixante ans comme si c’était hier. « Elle était d’une beauté lorsqu’elle est descendue du train ! » se souvient Robinson.
Les acteurs et l’équipe de tournage ont profité de tout ce que Jasper avait à offrir et ils n’hésitaient pas à prendre le temps pour discuter avec les habitants. Home se souvient « Elle rendait toujours visite à tout le monde » d’après l’expérience qu’il a eue avec Marilyn.

Val Dellil, Organisateur et Créateur de l’exposition au Musée Jasper-Yellowhead, a beaucoup été surpris par la réponse des habitants quand elle et son équipe leur ont demandé de parler de cet été spécial en 1953. « Quelle surprise d’entendre toutes ces histoires revenir à la surface » déclare Delill. « A chaque fois qu’on croyait les histoires finies, une nouvelle arrivait. » L’exposition montre des douzaines de photos et d’histoires liées aux gens ou aux endroits de tournage, comme celui du hall de dance où Marilyn et sa co-star Robert Mitchum allaient danser après la journée de travail.
Harry dit « Je me souviens qu’un soir quand ils sont venus danser. Si vous aviez le courage de leur demander, ils dansaient même avec vous. »
Le décès de Marilyn en 1962 a été triste pour les habitants de Jasper mais les souvenirs d’un meilleur passé sont ramenés à la vie grâce à l’exposition dédiée à la Star disparue. L’exposition « Jasper se souvient de Marilyn » sera ouverte jusqu’au 22 septembre 2013.

Le 13 septembre 1954, Marilyn Monroe tourne ce qui sera la scène finale du film "Sept ans de réflexion", celle où elle est en peignoir dans l'appartement de Richard Sherman (Tom Ewell); et lui lance ses chaussures par la fenêtre. Il s'agit de la première scène tournée en extérieur, à New York, dans l'appartement situé au 164 East 61 Street. Près de 1000 personnes (des photographes, gens de la presse et beaucoup de passants et de fans), se sont amassés devant l'immeuble.

In September, 13, 1954, Marilyn Monroe shoots what will be the final scene of "The Seven Year Itch", the one where she is in a white robe in the apartment of Richard Sherman (Tom Ewell); and she throws his shoes from out the window. This is the first scene shot on location in New York, in an apartment located at 164 East 61 Street. Nearly 1,000 people (photographers, press people and a lot of shoppers and fans), were raised in front of the building.
