Marilyn borrows a pair of two-tone (black and white) shoes of the same style as those worn for a Fox promotional portrait session in Navy Pin-Up style (but here they are open at the toes and there is a small decorative bow at the end of the shoe).

  Le 3 août 1947, les studios de la 20th Century Fox envoient plusieurs de leurs jeunes starlettes, dont Marilyn Monroe, pour participer en tant que "caddy" porteuse de club de golf, au tournoi annuel caricatif organisé par l'acteur et réalisateur Frank Borzage et sponsorisé par les studios de la Fox, le "Motion Picture Golf Tournament" qui se tient au California Country Club de Cheviot Hills.
Les bénéfices récoltés sont reversés à la fondation de recherche pour le cancer, le "Damon Runyon Cancer Research" fondé par Walter Winchell après le décès d'un cancer de la gorge de son ami écrivain Damon Runyon en 1946. De nombreuses stars y participent: Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Clark Gable, Red Skelton, Adolphe Menjou, Frank Sinatra, Jack Benny, Monte Hall.
Marilyn Monroe accompagne, en notant les scores et portant son club de golf, l'acteur et chanteur John Carroll qui est marié à Lucille Ryman, dénicheuse de talents à la MGM. Marilyn sympathise avec le couple qui se prendra d'affectation pour elle et s'occupera par la suite de sa carrière en lui apportant aussi un soutien moral et financier.

On August 3, 1947, the studios of 20th Century Fox sent several of their young starlets, including Marilyn Monroe, to participate as a "caddy" carrying a golf club, at the annual charity tournament organized by actor and director Frank Borzage and sponsored by Fox Studios, the "Motion Picture Golf Tournament" held at the California Country Club in Cheviot Hills.
The profits collected are donated to the cancer research foundation, the "Damon Runyon Cancer Research" founded by Walter Winchell after the death of his writer friend Damon Runyon from throat cancer in 1946. Many stars participate: Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Clark Gable, Red Skelton, Adolphe Menjou, Frank Sinatra, Jack Benny, Monte Hall.
Marilyn Monroe accompanies, noting scores and carrying his golf club, actor and singer John Carroll who is married to Lucille Ryman, talent scout at MGM. Marilyn sympathizes with the couple who will take care of her and will take care of her career by also providing moral and financial support.

La foule avait bondi, dans tous les sens, suivant leurs favoris. J'ai levé les yeux... vers le sommet d'une colline et j'ai vu descendre de la pente une jeune fille blonde d'une beauté saisissante... et... toute seule ! Elle marchait joyeusement vêtue d'un joli pull en cachemire rose clair, un short de marche blanc cassé rentré et un sac coloré en bandoulière sur son épaule gauche. Inaperçue... à peine connue (je dois supposer) et... seule ! J'étais jeune et assez courageux pour aller à sa rencontre. Elle a souri si joliment, comme vous pouvez le voir sur les photos. Je lui ai dit à quel point elle était jolie et je lui ai demandé si je pouvais prendre une ou deux photo d'elle. Nous avons parlé un instant de la météo parfaite du jour, etc. puis elle a fait un signe de la main et m'a dit : "Merci !"... Elle a continué son chemin. Mes yeux la suivirent jusqu'à ce qu'elle disparaisse !"
Il situe par erreur la date à l'été 1944 - il s'agit en fait de l'été 1947.

  The photographer Edward C Baird - known as Ed Baird - will remember his meeting with Marilyn at this golf tournament: "I was taking a moment to rest in the shade and to change film in my little camera. The crowd had surged on, in all directions, following their favorites. I looked up... toward the top of a hill and saw coming down the slope a strikingly beautiful, blonde young girl... and... all alone ! She strode along happily dressed in a lovely light-pink-cashemere sweater, tucked-in off-white walking shorts and a colorful bag slung over her left shoulder. Unnoticed...hardly known (I must assume) and... Alone ! I was young and brave enough to walk up to meet her. She smiled so beautifully, as you see her in the pictures. I told her how pretty she was and asked if I might take a picture or two of her. We talked for a moment about the perfect weather of the day, etc.. then she waved and said: "Thank you!"... She continued on her way. My eyes followed her until of sight !"
He mistakenly places the date in the summer of 1944 - it is in fact the summer of 1947.

Marilyn Monroe en maillot de bain deux pièces à fleurs - une création du couturier de la Fox, Charles Le Maire - en février / mars 1947; bien qu'elle ne porte pas ce maillot dans le film, le but de cette séance est d'en faire des portraits publicitaires pour son premier film  Scudda Hoo ! Scudda Hay !  dans lequel elle tient un rôle de figuration. La 20th Century Fox utilise ses jeunes starlettes pour les faire photographier dans le style des pin-up afin de s'assurer que les photographies soient publiées dans la presse (dès début avril 1947 pour cette séance) et ainsi, de promouvoir leurs films plutôt mineurs à l'affiche. 
La séance aurait eu lieu dans la villa à Beverly Hills de Artie Stebbins, scénariste et producteur à Hollywood et neveu de Joseph Schenck.

Marilyn Monroe in a two-piece floral swimsuit - a creation by Fox designer Charles Le Maire - in February / March 1947; although she doesn't wear this swimsuit in the film, the goal of this photos sitting is to make publicity portraits for her first film Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay! in which she plays a figurative role. The 20th Century Fox uses its young starlets to have them photographed in pin-up style to ensure that the photographs will be published in the press (from the beginning of April 1947 for that session) and thus to promote their rather minor films on the screens.
The shoot was reportedly held in the Beverly Hills villa of Artie Stebbins, Hollywood screenwriter and producer and nephew of Joseph Schenck.

Le 20 juillet 1947, les studios de la 20th Century Fox organisent leur tournoi de golf annuel qui se tient au parcours de golf de Brentwood, en Californie. Les 300 participants, qui sont les salariés des studios, recoivent chacun un cadeau (machine à écrire, disques, appareils photos, radios, couvertures, ustensiles de cuisine, lampes, horloges, et autres équipements de maison ou appareils). Les donateurs des cadeaux sont les grands patrons: Joseph Schenck, Darryl Zanuck, Spyros Skouras et d'autres cadres des studios. Après le tournoi, une fête dansante est organisée dans la salle de bal des studios.
Marilyn Monroe participe au tournoi - on ne sait si elle est présente en tant que starlette qui accompagne les participants ou si elle est aussi candidate au tournoi; mais au vue de sa tenue en maillot de bain, il est inconstestable qu'elle souhaite se faire remarquer.

On July 20, 1947, the 20th Century Fox Studios held their annual golf tournament at the Brentwood Golf Course in California. The 300 participants, who are studio employees, each receive a gift (typewriter, records, cameras, radios, blankets, kitchen utensils, lamps, clocks, and other household equipment or appliances). The givers of the gifts are the big bosses: Joseph Schenck, Darryl Zanuck, Spyros Skouras and other studio executives. After the tournament, a dance party is organized in the ballroom of the studios.
Marilyn Monroe participates in the tournament - it is not known if she is present as a starlet who accompanies the participants or if she is also a candidate for the tournament; but in view of her outfit in a swimsuit, it is indisputable that she wants to be noticed.

Marilyn Monroe se trouve à l'hôtel-casino Flamingo de Las Vegas début août 1947.
Bill Pursel, qui était à l'époque son petit-ami, racontera que Marilyn se trouvait à Las Vegas - avec d'autres starlettes des studios de la 20th Century Fox - pour un show publicitaire à l'hôtel Flamingo. Ce show est sans doute un défilé de mode: un article du journal local de Las Vegas, le Review Journal du 9 août 1947 parle du défilé.
Bill Pursel racontera que Marilyn l'avait invité à venir la voir. Quand il arrive, le garde de sécurité refuse de le faire entrer, et il ne peut rien voir car de grands rideaux sont tirés; Bill insiste, lui disant qu'il a un rendez-vous avec l'une des filles, ce à quoi le gardien se moque mais finit tout de même par écarter les rideaux pour que Bill puisse voir la salle. Il découvre des filles qui dansent sur scène et Marilyn et son groupe sont assises devant une grande table installée devant la scène. Quand Marilyn voit Bill, elle l'interpelle et lui fait signe. Les spots de lumière se dirigent alors vers Bill qui se retrouve très embarassé. Il entre dans la salle et rejoint Marilyn: ils s'embrassent et l'assistance applaudit.
Après le show, Marilyn et Bill se retrouvent près de la piscine pour passer un moment tranquille. Mais à peine une dizaine de minutes plus tard, un des hommes du groupe de Marilyn lui ordonne, sur un ton agressif, de revenir avec le groupe. Bill s'énerve et menace le type de le jeter à l'eau. Pour ne pas que la situation dégénère, Marilyn rejoint le reste du groupe et Bill part au bar où il s'assied à côté de David Niven et Sonny Tufts. Il ne reste pas longtemps car il travaille le lendemain.
Marilyn avait raconté à Bill qu'ils essayaient de la diriger et contrôler.

Marilyn Monroe is at the Flamingo Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas in early August 1947.
Bill Pursel, who was her boyfriend at the time, will tell that Marilyn was in Las Vegas - with other starlets from 20th Century Fox Studios - for a publicity show at the Flamingo Hotel. This show is undoubtedly a fashion show: an article of the local newspaper of Las Vegas, the Review Journal of August 9, 1947 speaks about it.
Bill Pursel will tell that Marilyn had invited him to come and see her. When he arrives, the security guard refuses to let him in, and he can't see anything because large curtains are drawn; Bill insists, telling him he has a meeting with one of the girls, to which the guard scoffs but ends up parting the curtains so Bill can see the room. He discovers girls dancing on stage and Marilyn and her group are seated in front of a large table set up in front of the stage. When Marilyn sees Bill, she yelles and waves. The spots of light then move towards Bill who finds himself very embarrassed. He enters the room and joins Marilyn: they hug and the audience cheers.
After the show, Marilyn and Bill meet near the swimming pool to spend some quiet time. But barely ten minutes later, one of the men in Marilyn's group orders her, in an aggressive tone, to go back in. Bill gets angry and threatens the guy to throw him in the water. To prevent the situation from degenerating, Marilyn joins the rest of the group and Bill goes to the bar where he sits next to David Niven and Sonny Tufts. He doesn't stay long because he works the next day.
Marilyn had told Bill that they were trying to boss and control her.

Du 12 au 16 octobre 1947, se déroulait la Convention des receveurs de la Poste à Los Angeles, qui faisait appel à des starlettes pour agrémenter l'acceuil des membres en tant qu'hotesses, comme ici celles envoyées par les studios de la 20th Century Fox: Donna Hamilton et Marilyn Monroe, ici avec Mike Fanning de la poste. Ils posent sur le tarmac de l'aéroport devant un avion de la TWA.

From October 12 to 16, 1947, the Postmasters Convention took place in Los Angeles, which called on starlets to decorate the welcome of the members as hostess, like here those sent by the studios of 20th Century Fox: Donna Hamilton and Marilyn Monroe, here with Mike Fanning of the post office. They pose on the airport tarmac in front of a TWA plane.

article: POSTCARDS featuring the photo shown above were distributed free from a special service desk "manned" by two TWA hostesses at the postmasters' convention held at the Los Angeles Biltmore hotel, Oct. 12 to 16.
In addition to the picture, the post card contained this information: "That's Mike Fanning, Host Postmaster, and I'm holding Starlet Donna Hamilton with my right arm and Marilyn Monroe with my left. Both are from Twentieth Century Fox and Oh Boy, what a wonderful way to be greeted. Yours. . . ."
Saturday's, Monday's and Tuesday's copies of the newspapers of all TWA on-line stations were rushed to the convention for distribution at the same service desk. Each TWA city included in its shipment enough papers to handle delegates from cities within its trading area.

Chaque ville TWA a inclus dans son envoi suffisamment de papiers pour gérer les délégués des villes de sa zone commerciale.
