Marilyn Monroe loves jazz music. She talks here with her favorite singer Ella Fitzgerald in a Jazz club in Hollywood: the Tiffany Club on November 19, 1954. For this evening, Marilyn is accompanied by her friend the writer Sidney Skolsky.
Un jour, apprenant qu' Ella Fitzgerald ne pouvait pas chanter dans une boîte à la mode (le Mocambo à Los Angeles) parce que Noire, Marilyn téléphona personnellement au patron et lui dit qu'elle réserverait chaque soir une table au premier rang s'il revenait sur sa décision. Et, chaque soir où Ella Fitzgerald chanta, Marilyn honora sa promesse.
Ella raconta plus tard: "Je dois à Marilyn Monroe une vraie dette. Ce fut grâce à elle que je jouai au Mocambo, un club de nuit très populaire à la fin des années 1950. Elle appela personnellement le propriétaire du Mocambo et lui raconta qu'elle voulait m'y voir engagée immédiatement, et s'il le faisait, elle réserverait une table au premier rang pour chaque soirée. Elle lui dit, et c'est la vérité, que de par son statut de star, que la presse se montrerait féroce. Le propriétaire accepta, et Marilyn était là, à la première table, chaque soir. La presse laissa tombé... Après ça, je n'ai jamais plus eu à jouer dans de petit club de jazz. Elle était une femme insolite, un peu en avance sur son temps. Et elle ne le savait pas."
