Le 13 juin 1957, Marilyn Monroe et Arthur Miller se rendent à la première du film The Prince and the Showgirl (Le Prince et la Danseuse) au Radio City Music Hall à Manhattan, New York. Puis ils se rendent à la soirée de bienfaisance de la "Milk Fund" au Waldorf Astoria à Manhattan, de l'opération "Give Milk to Children" ("Donnons du lait aux enfants"), pour laquelle Marilyn participa à la campagne. Marilyn fit don des recettes de bénéfices de la première du film ainsi que de la soirée à l'association "Free Milk Fund For Babies".

Le 11 avril 1957, Marilyn Monroe et Arthur Miller participent au grand bal "April in Paris" au Waldorf Astoria à Manhattan, New York; un gala fêtant le 200ème anniversaire de la naissance de Lafayette. Pendant le dîner, Marilyn discute avec l'ancien ambassadeur de l'Angleterre Winthrop Aldrich, mais aussi avec la journaliste Elsa Maxwell. Les acteurs français Gérard Philipe et Jean Marais et l'actrice Françoise Arnoul viennent saluer Marilyn.
La duchesse de Windsor demande à Marilyn de tirer les tickets de tombola dont les deux lots étaient deux voitures (une Chrysler et une Citröen). Avant de partir, chaque invité reçoit des cadeaux en souvenirs: des échantillons de produits de luxe "made in France", comprenant eau de cologne, parfums, cravates Dior, moutarde de Dijon et des bonbons.
Marilyn portait une robe de Norman Norell.

On April 11, 1957, Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller participate to the great "April in Paris" bal at the Waldorf Astoria, Manhattan, New York City. The bal celebrate the 200th anniversary of Lafayette's birth. During the meal, Marilyn discuss with the ex envoy of Britain, Winthrop Aldrich, but also with the journalist Elsa Maxwell. The french actors Gerard Philipe, Françoise Arnoul and Jean Marais came to greet Marilyn.

Le 3 janvier 1957, Marilyn Monroe et Arthur Miller quittent New York et s'envolent pour la Jamaïque par un avion de la Avancia Airlines pris à l'aéroport d'Idlewild (trajet New York - Montego Bay), pour y célébrer leur lune de miel qui avait été reportée à cause du tournage du film Le prince et la danseuse. Lee Strasberg a accompagné le couple jusqu'à l'aéroport. Marilyn et Arthur partent avec Morton Miller (le cousin d'Arthur) et sa femme Florence.
Les reporters présents en profitent pour demander au couple s'ils comptent avoir un enfant, ce à quoi Arthur leur répond: "Nous avons décidé de ne faire aucun commentaire sur ce sujet."

 On January 3, 1957, Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller left New York and flew to Jamaica by an Avancia Airlines plane taken at Idlewild airport (New York - Montego Bay), to celebrate their honeymoon which has been postponed due to the filming of The Prince and the Showgirl. Lee Strasberg accompanied the couple to the airport. Marilyn and Arthur leave with Morton Miller (Arthur's cousin) and his wife Florence.
The reporters present take the opportunity to ask the couple if they plan to have a child, to which Arthur replies: "We resolved to make no comment on that."

A leur arrivée à l'aéroport de Palisadoes de Kingston à 7 heures, un verre de bienvenue (un punch de rhum) leur est offert. Marilyn et Arthur prennent le temps de répondre aux journalistes présents :
- Arthur Miller déclare qu'il écrit une pièce pour Marilyn, qui "n'a pas encore de titre. Elle portera sur la vie contemporaine."; il est très fatigué, déclarant "Après l'avion, je ne supporte presque plus rien.";
- A un journliaste qui demande: "Miss Monroe, si vous deviez choisir entre votre mari et votre carrière, laquelle choisiriez-vous ?", Marilyn répond: "Je n'ai pas à choisir, mais si je devais le faire, mon mari."
Puis pendant que l'ensemble des bagages sont chargés dans la voiture, Marilyn salue la foule et signe quelques autographes, tout en se laissant prendre en photos.
Ils prennent ensuite la voiture et font la route pendant 2 heures et demie pour aller à Ocho Rios.

At their arrival at Kingston, Palisadoes Airport, at 7:00 am, they are offered a welcome drink (a rum punch). Marilyn and Arthur take the time to answer to the journalists who are present:
- Arthur Miller declares that he write a play for Marilyn that "isn't titled yet. It will be about contemporary life.”; he is very tired, saying that " After the plane, I can hardly bear anything.";
- At a journlist who demands "Miss Monroe, if you had to choose between your husband and your career, which would you pick?", Marilyn answers: "I don't have to choose, but if I had to, my husband."
Then while all the luggage is loaded into the car, Marilyn greets the crowd and signs some autographs, while letting her pictures be taken.
They then take the car and drive for 2.5 hours to go to Ocho Rios.

Marilyn Monroe et Arthur Miller passent leur lune de miel en Jamaïque du 3 au 17 janvier 1957; ils passent leur séjour avec un autre couple, Morton Miller (le cousin d'Arthur) et sa femme Florence.

Ils séjournent à Ocho Rios qui se situe dans la paroisse de Saint Ann (région surnommée "le jardin botanique de l'île" par sa beauté et sa diversité florale).
Ils logent dans la villa "Moot Point" appartenant à une aristocrate anglaise, lady Pamela Bird, qui se trouve à 12 mètres de la mer. D'un étage bleu pâle, la villa a trois chambres, trois salles de bain, un immense salon, d'une terrasse surplombant la mer et d'un grand jardin. Lady Bird dispose de cinq employés pour l'entretenir, qui se considèrent chanceux de pouvoir servir le couple star: en exemple, l'un des employés, Owen, refuse de prendre sa journée de repos pour être présent à chaque instant.
Elle constitue alors l'une des cinq villas d'Hermosa Beach, alors en plein développement (aujourd'hui appelé Hermosa Cove, les villas sont devenues des complexes hôteliers de luxe). Le manoir des voisins "Cotton Wood" est celui de Sir Bernard et Lady Docker, et la villa située à l'Est "Lime Tree House" est celle de Terry Marsteller.

Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller spend their honeymoon in Jamaica from January 3, 1957 to January 17, 1957; they spend their stay with another couple, Morton Miller (Arthur's cousin) and his wife Florence.

They stay in Ocho Rios which is located in the parish of Saint Ann (region nicknamed "the Garden Parish of Jamaica" for its beauty and its floral diversity).
They stay at the "Moot Point" villa, belonging to an English aristocrat, Lady Pamela Bird, which is at 40 feet from the sea. A pale blue one-story, the villa has three bedrooms, three baths, a huge drawing room, a terrace overhanging the sea and a big garden. Lady Bird has five employees to maintain it, who consider themselves lucky to be able to serve the star couple: for example, one of the employees, Owen, refuses to take his day off to be present every time.
It is one of the five villas of Hermosa Beach, then in full development (now called Hermosa Cove, the villas have become luxury resorts). The neighboring mansion "Cotton Wood" belongs to Sir Bernard and Lady Docker and the villa at the East "Lime Tree House" is owned by Terry Marsteller.

Le 4 janvier, Arthur Miller se rend dans la baie de Saint Ann pour obtenir son permis de conduire jamaïcain, avec Lord Ronald Graham et sa femme (qui louent la villa aux Miller; Ronald Graham est agent immobilier et voisin de la villa). Quand à Marilyn, elle se détend et va nager dans la mer carribéenne quand le temps s'y prête car la météo est changeante, il y a notamment beaucoup de vent. Marilyn aimerait faire du vélo et un peu de plongée, les reporters du journal Daily Gleaner lui ont offert masque et tuba: elle leur est apparue sans maquillage et vêtue d'un petit short blanc et d'un top d'été quand ils sont venus lui offrir à la villa. Elle leur fait part de son enthousiasme en découvrant les sublimes couleurs changeantes de la mer. Arthur Miller leur dit qu'ils passeront les prochains jours à dormir.
En réalité, Marilyn sort peu car elle évite de se mettre au soleil car sa peau devient rose et brillante (comme le rapporte le journal Daytona Beach), il lui arrive surtout d'aller nager et de s'allonger dans le sable.
Le couple déclare aussi adorer la nourriture jamaïcaine: le fruit d'arbre à pain, le corrosol, les ignames et le homard; et ils sortent de temps en temps pour visiter quelques lieux, Arthur s'intéressant à l'agriculture locale et à l'histoire de l'île.

Le 11 janvier, ils se rendent à l'hôtel Jamaica Inn, où Arthur Miller joue au tennis avec son cousin Morton pendant que Marilyn les regarde. Le soir, ils sont allés dîner chez Jonas Reiner, dans sa résidence "High Hope" située dans la baie de Saint Ann.
Le 12 janvier, ils donnent une interview aux reporters du Daily Gleaner et le soir, ils sortent écouter de la musique locale.
En fait, le couple ne planifie rien et font des "activités spontanées" comme dit Arthur.

Marilyn, Arthur et son cousin Morton et sa femme Florence se rendent aussi parfois dîner à l'hôtel Jamaica Inn à Ochos Rios, au nord de la côte, où le barman sert à Marilyn un punch au rhum.

Arthur Miller déclare dans la presse locale (le Jamaica Gleaner) qu'il est en train d'écrire une pièce de théâtre pour sa femme, qui parlera de "la vie contemporaine".
Le couple rapporte aussi qu'ils sont à la recherche d'une maison à louer, exprimant l'intérêt d'acheter une propriété au nord de l'île. Ils expriment aussi l'envie de revenir passer des vacances (propos recueillis le 12 janvier par le Daily Gleaner), Marilyn racontant aux journalistes qu'il s'agit "d'une vraie lune de miel" et Arthur ajoutant que "personne ne nous embête ici. C'est merveilleux. C'est la raison pour laquelle nous reviendrons. L'intimité."

 On January 4, Arthur Miller goes to Saint Ann's Bay to get his Jamaican driver's license, with Lord Ronald and Lady Graham (who rent the villa to the Millers; Ronald Graham is realtor and neighbor of the villa). As for Marilyn, she relaxes and goes swimming in the Caribbean Sea when the weather is right because the weather is changeable, there is particularly a lot of wind. Marilyn would like to cycle and do some diving, the reporters of The Daily Gleaner Journal offers her a mask and snorkel: she appeared to them without makeup and wearing little white shorts and a summer top when they came to give her at the villa. She shares with them her enthusiasm by discovering the sublime changing colors of the sea. Arthur Miller tells them that they will spend the next few days sleeping. In fact, Marilyn doesn't go out much because she avoids going in the sun because her skin becomes pink and brilliant (as reported in the Daytona Beach newspaper), she sometimes mostly goes swimming and lying in the sand.
The couple also say they love the jamaican food: the breadfruit, the soursop, yams and lobster; and they go out sometime to visit a few places, Arthur taking an interest in the local agriculture and the history of the island.

On January 11, they go to the Jamaica Inn hotel, where Arthur Miller plays tennis with his cousin Morton while Marilyn watches them. In the evening, they went to dine at Jonas Reiner's residence "High Hope" located in the bay of Saint Ann.
On January 12, they give an interview to the Daily Gleaner reporters and in the evening, they go out to listen native music.
In fact, the couple don't plan anything and do "spontaneous activities" as Arthur says.

Marilyn, Arthur and his cousin Morton and his wife Florence also sometimes go to dinner at the Jamaica Inn hotel in Ochos Rios, north of the coast, where the barman serves Marilyn a rum punch.

Arthur Miller declares in the local press (the Jamaica Gleaner) that he is in the process of writing a play for his wife which would be about “contemporary life.” The couple tells to reporters they are looking for a house to rent and express interest in buying property on the island’s north coast.  They also express the desire to come back for a vacation (comments collected on January 12 by the Daily Gleaner), Marilyn telling to reporters that this is "really a honeymoon" and Arthur added that "no one has bothered us. It's wonderful. That's why we will come back here. The privacy."

Le 17 janvier 1957, Marilyn Monroe et Arthur Miller passent la dernière journée de leur lune de miel en Jamaïque à Montego Bay: ils partent d'Ocho Rios dans la matinée pour se rendre à Montego Bay (qui se trouve à une 100aine de km) en prenant un car de tourisme (le Martins Tour).
Ils prennent un déjeuner au luxueux hôtel 'Half Moon' et restent dans l'hôtel.

On January 17, 1957, Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller spent the last day of their honeymoon in Jamaica in Montego Bay: they leave Ocho Rios in the morning to go to Montego Bay (wich is about 100 km) by taking a tourist bus (the Martins Tour).
They take a lunch at the luxurious 'Half Moon' hoteland stay in the hotel.

Puis ils se rendent à l'aéroport prendre l'avion de 15h30 d' Avianca Airlines pour New York où un millier de personnes les attendent pour essayer de les voir une dernière fois. Vers midi, la foule forme un barrage. Le décollage est retardé d'une heure car le couple arrive en retard: à bord d'un zodiaque zéphyr bleu pris de l'hôtel Half Moon, ils arrivent à l'aéroport après 16h00. Marilyn, vêtue d'un ensemble chemisier et jupe blanc crème assorti d'un foulard rouge, se montre souriante et aimable en saluant la foule. Marilyn et Arthur sont escortés jusqu'à l'avion par Bill Thomson, manager de la compagnie d'Avianca. Ils repartent avec Morton Miller (le cousin d'Arthur) et sa femme Florence.
Marilyn ne répond pas aux reporters, seul Arthur Miller livre ces quelques mots au Daily Gleaner: "Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour dans votre belle île et nous envisageons de revenir prochainement."

Then they went to the airport to take at 3:30 pm the Avianca Airlines plane for New York, where thousand people wait for them to try to have a last look on them. Around noon, the crowd forms a barrier. The plane's departure is delayed for and hour because the couple arrives late: aboard a blue zephyr zodiac taken from the Half Moon hotel, they arrive at the airport after 4:00 p.m. Marilyn, dressed in a creamy white blouse and skirt matched with a red scarf, is smiling and friendly while greeting the crowd. Marilyn and Arthur are escorted to the plane by Bill Thomson, manager of Avianca Airlines. The leave with Morton Miller (Arthur's cousin) and his wife.
Marilyn doesn't answer to the reporters, only Arthur Miller delivers few words to the Daily Gleaner: "We had a glorious time in your beautiful island and are looking toward to an early return."

C'est une Marilyn souriante et sans maquillage, à la peau légèrement dorée, portant lunettes de soleil et manteau de fourrure et tenant son grand chapeau de paille blanc à la main, qui descend de l'avion à l'aéroport d'Idlewild, se pelotonnant contre Arthur Miller, les températures étant glaciales (moins de 10 degrés). Des rumeurs évoquent que Marilyn serait enceinte et les journalistes se précipitent sur le couple pour avoir plus de détails mais Marilyn leur répond "Je n'ai rien à dire" et Arthur Miller réplique par "Pas un mot".

Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller are back in New York on January 19, 1957, after spending their honeymoon in Jamaica. It is a smiling Marilyn with no make-up and slightly sun tanned skin, wearing sunglasses and a fur coat and holding her big white straw hat in her hand, who gets off the plane at Idlewild Airport, huddling up against Arthur Miller, the temperatures being freezing (less than 10 degrees). Rumors suggest that Marilyn would be pregnant and the journalists rush to the couple to have more details but Marilyn answers them "I have nothing to say" and Arthur Miller replies by "Not a word".

Richard Avedon raconte le déroulement de la séance photos:
Pendant des heures, elle a dansé, chanté, flirté et elle a joué à être -elle a été- Marilyn Monroe. Et puis il y eut la chute inévitable. Et quand la nuit fut finie, elle s'est assise dans un coin comme une enfant, vide. Je la voyais s'asseoir tranquillement, sans expression sur son visage, et je me dirigeais vers elle, mais je ne voulais pas la photographier à son insu. Et comme j'arrivais avec l'appareil, j'ai vu qu'elle ne disait pas non...

Richard Avedon comments the sitting:
"For hours she danced and sang and flirted and did this thing that’s—she Marilyn Monroe. And then there was the inevitable drop. And when the night was over and the white wine was over and the dancing was over, she sat in the corner like a child, with everything gone. I saw her sitting quietly without expression on her face, and I walked towards her but I wouldn’t photograph her without her knowledge of it. And as I came with the camera, I saw that she was not saying no."
