On distingue Marilyn Monroe dans la roulotte où elle arrive avec les autres filles (Marion Marshall, Joyce MacKenzie et Barbara Smith); puis parmi les figurants de la foule (on la reconnaît par la couleur jaune de sa robe).

The convoy arrives at the town of Tomahawk, where the "Town Limits" sign is posted.
Marilyn Monroe is distinguished in the trailer where she arrives with the other girls (Marion Marshall, Joyce MacKenzie and Barbara Smith); then among the extras in the crowd (we recognize her by the yellow color of her dress).

Quand Marilyn Monroe rejoint les studios de la Columbia (elle signe son contrat le 09 mars 1948), les studios décident de la relooker totalement à l'image de leur star Rita Hayworth. Marilyn subit une électrolyse de la racine des cheveux (c'est à dire une épilation douloureuse) destinée à modifier l’implantation en forme de V de ses cheveux sur le haut du front, permettant ainsi d'élargir le front. Une technique subie aussi par Rita Hayworth. Puis ses cheveux sont décolorés dans une nuance de "platine chaud", faisant échos à Jean Harlow, l'idole de Marilyn.

When Marilyn Monroe joins the Columbia studios (she signs her contract on March 9, 1948), the studios decide to completely revamp her in the image of their star Rita Hayworth. Marilyn undergoes electrolysis of the hairline (i.e. painful hair removal) intended to modify the V-shaped implantation of her hair on the top of the forehead, thus allowing the forehead to be widened. A technique also suffered by Rita Hayworth. Then her hair is bleached in a shade of "warm platinum", echoing Jean Harlow, Marilyn's idol.

Quand à sa coiffure, les studios la mettent entre les mains de leur coiffeuse Helen Hunt, qui s'occupait aussi de la chevelure de Rita Hayworth et va reproduire sur Marilyn la même coiffure: les cheveux mi-longs, ondulés et crantés.

As for her hairstyle, the studios put it in the hands of their hairdresser Helen Hunt, who also took care of Rita Hayworth's hair and will reproduce the same hairstyle on Marilyn: mid-length and wavy hair.

Pour le maquillage, le visage de Marilyn est confié à Clay Campbell, le maquilleur attitré des studios de la Columbia, qui s'occupait aussi du visage de Rita Hayworth et qui reproduit un maquillage similaire sur Marilyn: un léger fard à paupières, du ricil aux yeux et du rouge à lèvres rouge.

For the make-up, Marilyn's face is entrusted to Clay Campbell, the regular make-up artist at Columbia studios, who also took care of Rita Hayworth's face and who reproduces similar make-up on Marilyn: a light eye shadow, ricil eyes and red lipstick.

Les chaussures de scène sont dorés à petits talons. Pour la scène d'introduction du film -la scène chantée "Ladies of the Chorus" où les filles chantent et dansent sur scène - certaines portent des sandales ouvertes (laissant apercevoir les doigts de pieds) et d'autres portent des sandales fermés.
La 1ère paire de chaussures de scène portée par Peggy / Marilyn sont des sandales ouvertes, comme sur les clichés publicitaires du film. 
D'autres actrices portent aussi des sandales ouvertes mais à semelles compensées, dans la scène où elles rejoignent leur grande loge; ces sandales ne sont néanmoins pas portés quand elles sont sur scène.
Adele Jergens porte des sandales dorés au bout ouvert.

The stage shoes are golden with a small heel. For the introductory scene of the film - the sung scene "Ladies of the Chorus" where the girls sing and dance on stage - some wear open sandals (letting see the toes) and others wear closed sandals.
The 1st pair of stage shoes worn by Peggy / Marilyn are open sandals, as in the publicity shots of the film. 
Other actresses also wear open sandals but with platform soles, in the scene where they join their grand lodge; these sandals are however not worn when they are on stage. 
Adele Jergens wears gold open toe sandals.

La 2ème paire de chaussures de scène portée par Peggy/Marilyn correspond à la scène où elle chante sur scène "Anyone Can See I Love You". Ce sont des chaussures à l'effet blanc satiné, à petits talons, avec plusieurs petites ouvertues sur le pied, et au talon ouvert, fermés par une sangle en haut du pied.

The 2nd pair of stage shoes worn by Peggy/Marilyn corresponds to the scene where she sings "Anyone Can See I Love You" on stage. They are white satin effect shoes with small heels, with several small openings on the foot, and with an open heel, closed by a strap at the top of the foot.

La 3ème paire de chaussures de scène portée par Peggy/Marilyn correspond à la scène où elle chante sur scène "Everybaby Needs a Da-Da-Daddy". Ce sont des chaussures noires à petit talon au bout ouvert et fermées par une sangle noire en haut du pied.

The 3rd pair of stage shoes worn by Peggy/Marilyn correspond to the scene where she sings "Everybaby Needs a Da-Da-Daddy" on stage. These are black low-heeled shoes with an open toe and closed by a black strap at the top of the foot.

La 4ème paire de chaussures portée par Peggy/Marilyn sont des chaussures de ville: noires, à talons, au bout ouvert. Marilyn les porte aussi pour des séances photos publicitaires de la Columbia (photos d'Ed Cronenwerth).

La jeune Marilyn Monroe aimait porter une petite chaîne à sa cheville gauche. Elle porte la chaîne dans le film, tout comme pour les portraits publicitaires de la Columbia.

Young Marilyn Monroe liked to wear a small chain on her left ankle. She wears the chain in the film, just like in the Columbia publicity portraits.

A l'appartement des Martin, Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) et sa fille Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) rentrent chez elle. Mae propose de faire du café mais Peggy n'en veut pas. Peggy s'asseoit dans le fauteuil et Mae remarque que quelque chose ne va pas. Une mise au point a alors lieu: Peggy reproche à sa mère de ne pas pouvoir sortir avec d'autres personnes. Mae lui répond qu'il est inutile d'aller à un rendez-vous avec un inconnu qui sera probablement plus âgé ou même marié avec des enfants. Peggy se fâche; elle rétorque à sa mère que celle-ci est constamment dans le jugement sans connaître les gens, qu'elle doit toujours demander la permission à sa mère pour sortir, que sa mère la traite comme une enfant. Une fois avoir dit à sa mère ce qu'elle pensait, Peggy part se coucher. Mae reste sans voix, surprise d'avoir entendu ces reproches.

At the Martins' apartment, Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) and her daughter Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) go back home. Mae offers to make coffee but Peggy doesn't want it. Peggy sits in the chair and Mae notices something is wrong. A clarification then takes place: Peggy criticizes her mother for not being able to go out with other people. Mae replies that there is no point in going on a date with a stranger who will probably be older or even married with children. Peggy gets angry; she retorts to her mother that she is constantly in judgment without knowing people, that she must always ask her mother's permission to go out, that her mother treats her like a child. After telling her mother what she was thinking, Peggy goes to bed. Mae is speechless, surprised to have heard these reproaches.

Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) se rend chez la fleuriste Mimi (Gladys Blake). Peggy remarque immédiatement une orchidée dans son paquet d'emballage transparent au comptoir, ressemblant aux orchidées qu'elle reçoit en cadeau par un mystérieux admirateur. C'est alors que sans rien lui avoir demandé, la fleuriste lui dit qu'il s'agit d'une commande d'un homme élégant qui vient régulièrement à sa boutique pour lui commander à chaque fois une orchidée qu'il paye en liquide, accompagnée d'une carte qu'il ne signe jamais de son nom, destinée à une femme dont le nom est Peggy Martin à l'adresse d'un théâtre du burlesque. Elle lui dit aussi qu'il va arriver d'une minute à l'autre.
Quand la fleuriste lui demande ce qu'elle souhaite comme fleurs, Peggy tourne sa tête vers le bouquet d'oeillets posés sur le comptoir et ne lui en achète qu'un seul. Peggy la paye puis elle sort pour attendre sur le trottoir devant la boutique.

Peggy Martin (Marilyn Monroe) goes to the florist Mimi (Gladys Blake). Peggy immediately notices an orchid in its clear wrap packet at the counter, resembling the orchids she receives as a gift from a mysterious admirer. It was then that without having asked her anything, the florist told her that it is an order from an elegant man who regularly came to her shop to order an orchid each time for which he paid in cash, accompanied by a card that he never signs with his name, intended for a woman whose name is Peggy Martin at the address of a burlesque theater. She also tells her that he will arrive any minute.
When the florist asks her what flowers she would like, Peggy turns her head to the bouquet of carnations on the counter and buys her just one. Peggy pays her then she goes out to wait on the sidewalk in front of the shop.

C'est alors qu'un jeune homme (Rand Brooks) entre chez la fleuriste. La fleuriste lui donne sa commande: l'orchidée emballée dans son paquet et il s'asseoit à la petite table à côté pour écrire la carte.
Peggy l'observe à travers la vitrine et entre à son tour dans la boutique, avançant jusqu'à lui, restant debout à côté de lui. Il pense qu'il s'agit de la fleuriste mais en levant la tête, il découvre que c'est Peggy. Il se lève, ôte son chapeau et reste sans voix. Peggy lui demande alors si l'orchidée lui est destinée et il lui donne. Quand elle lui demande son nom, il lui répond "Randy Carroll". Peggy lui sert alors la main, déclarant être enchantée de le rencontrer. Randy ne lui lâche plus sa main puis il propose à Peggy de l'accompagner à une sortie et elle accepte. Ils sortent ensemble de la boutique et la fleuriste les regarde bouche bée.

It is then that a young man (Rand Brooks) enters the florist's. The flower shop woman gives him his order: the orchid wrapped in its packet and he sits down at the small table nearby to write the card.
Peggy observes him through the window and enters the shop in turn, advancing towards him, remaining standing next to him. He thinks it's the florist woman but looking up, he discovers it's Peggy. He gets up, takes off his hat and is speechless. Peggy then asks him if the orchid is for her and he gives it to her. When she asks his name, he replies "Randy Carroll". Peggy then shakes his hand, declaring to be niced to meet him. Randy doesn't let go of her hand anymore then he proposes to Peggy to accompany him on an outing and she accepts. They come out of the shop together and the florist looks at them speechless.
