En 1951, un reportage photographique montre Marilyn Monroe au lycée Van Nuys High School de Los Angeles, qu'elle a fréquenté de septembre 1941 à février 1942.
Les raisons de son retour au lycée restent floues: dans la presse de l'époque où les photos sont publiées, il est soit indiqué qu'elle rend visite à l'une de ses anciennes mères adoptives (et sur son chemin, aurait fait un détour par l'école), soit qu'elle fait un don de vêtements (une hypothèse peu probable, de par sa maigre garde robe en 1951), soit une mise en scène pour la presse.
L'une des photographies est publiée dans le magazine Look du 23 octobre 1951, sous le crédit du photographe Earl Theisen.

In 1951, a photographic report shows Marilyn Monroe at Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles, which she attended from September 1941 to February 1942.
The reasons for her return to high school remain unclear: in the press at the time the photos are published, it is indicated that she is visiting one of her former adoptive mothers (and on her way, would have made a detour through the school), or that she donates clothes (an unlikely hypothesis, due to her meager wardrobe in 1951), or just a production for the press.

En 1951, Marilyn Monroe est photographiée à l'usine Radioplane de Los Angeles, où elle a travaillé début 1944, là où elle a été découverte par le photographe David Conover.
Il semblerait qu'il s'agisse d'une mise en scène pour la presse, afin d'illustrer la jeunesse de Marilyn. On la voit pointer à l'entrée de l'usine.
Il est possible que le photographe soit Earl Theisen, la photo ayant été publiée parmi d'autres photos du photographe dans le magazine Filmland d'avril 1952.

In 1951, Marilyn Monroe is photographed at the Radioplane factory in Los Angeles, where she worked in early 1944, and where she was discovered by photographer David Conover.
It would seem that this is a production for the press, in order to illustrate Marilyn's youth. We see her punching the card at the entrance to the factory.
It is possible that the photographer is Earl Theisen, the photo having been published among other photos of the photographer in Filmland magazine from April 1952.

Photographies de Earl Theisen, qui se souviendra de cette séance destinée au magazine Look: "Quand elle s'est rendue à la plage du studio pour faire les photos, elle portait un manteau de fourrure. Quand elle l'a enlevé, elle portait un bikini. Je l'ai grondée et lui ai dit que ce n'était pas bien; c'était pour un magazine de type familial . Je lui ai dit de mettre une robe ou quelque chose d'autre. Elle n'aimait pas être réprimandée ou corrigée comme ça."
Les photographies ne seront pas publiées et la séance restera inédite jusqu'en 2010.

Photographs by Earl Theisen,who will remember this session for Look magazine: "When she drove up to the studio beach set for the picture, she was wearing a fur coat. When she took it off, she was wearing a bikini. I scolded her and said it was no good; this was for a family type magazine. I told her to get into a dress or something. She didn't like to be scolded or corrected like that."
The photographs will not be published and the session will remain unpublished until 2010.

Le 28 février 1951 se tient le dîner organisé par l'Association hollywoodienne de la presse étrangère (le Hollywood Foreign Press Correspondents Association), une organisation regroupant des journalistes spécialisés dans le cinéma américain et présidé cette année là par le compositeur de musique de films et journaliste Bert Reisfeld. Ses membres votent et décident chaque année des nominations et attributions des Golden Globes, récompensant les productions de l'année précédente. D'ailleurs, à la cérémonie, le film Eve est nommé dans plusieurs catégories tout comme Quand la ville dort, ce qui pourrait expliquer la présence de Marilyn Monroe qui sert alors de support de promotion et de représentation aux films:
- Eve est nommé dans la catégorie "meilleur film" (c'est "Sunset Boulevard" qui est récompensé);
- Bette Davies est nommée "meilleure actrice" dans Eve (c'est Gloria Swanson qui a le prix pour sa performance dans "Sunset Boulevard");
- George Sanders est nommé "meilleur acteur dans un second rôle" dans Eve (c'est Edmund Gwenn qui a le prix pour son rôle dans "Mister 880");
- Thelma Ritter est nommée "meilleure actrice dans un second rôle" dans Eve (c'est Josephine Hull qui a le prix pour son rôle dans "Harvey")

It seems that before the ceremony, the studios of Twentieth Century Fox organized a cocktail party with the representatives of the studio (Spyros Skouras the Fox president; Nick Janios the manager of the Café de Paris; Arthur Silverstone a sales manager of the Eastern USA) who are gathered in the canteen of 20th Century Fox, named the "Café de Paris", in Los Angeles.

  Le navire destroyer de la marine américainé Benham (le DD796, la troisième version du navire après la destruction des deux premiers pendant la guerre) est construit en 1943 et participe à la seconde guerre mondiale contre les Japonais. Désarmé en 1946, le navire est stationné pendant cinq ans à Long Beach, en Californie, jusqu'en 1951 et la guerre de Corée.
Le 19 juin 1951, Marilyn Monroe est invitée sur le navire USS Benham, juste avant le départ du navire sur la côte Est. Marilyn visite le navire et une projection du film "The Frogmen" ("Les Hommes-grenouilles") sur le thème des équipes UDT de la Marine avec Richard Widmark, est organisé à bord. Pour couvrir l'événement et en faire un reportage photographique, le photographe John Florea accompagne Marilyn.
Marilyn a emprunté sa tenue aux studios de la Fox, une robe en satin noir de la costumière Renié, qu'elle porte dans le film Rendez-moi ma femme - qui sortira sur les écrans de cinéma aux USA le 02 août 1951.

  The American navy destroyer Benham (the DD796, the third version of the ship after the destruction of the first two during the war) was built in 1943 and participated to the Second World War against the Japanese. Decommissioned in 1946, the ship was stationed for five years at Long Beach, in California, until 1951 and the Korean War.
On June 19, 1951, Marilyn Monroe is invited to the USS Benham, just before the ship left for the East coast. Marilyn visits the ship and a screening of the film "The Frogmen" on the theme of the UDT teams of the Navy with Richard Widmark, is organized on board. To cover the event and make a photographic report, photographer John Florea accompanies Marilyn.
Marilyn borrowed her outfit from the Fox studios, a black satin dress by costume designer Renié, which she wears in the film "As young as you feel" - which will be released on cinema screens in the USA on August 02, 1951.
